I had a set of BX8's for a while... They were surprisingly decent.

The "improved" BX8a's on the other hand...

I have the 8a I think. I don't have whatever the newest version is, but they are not the first gen either.

I've had them long enough to get used to them. I don't think I would recommend them though. Every single one has had the XLR input shit the bed. Piss poor design. TRS has held up fine.

yikez what are some oter good monitors in that price range

The 5-600 range? I think the KRK Rokit 8 monitors fit that bill. JBL LSR308 does. Yamaha HS7, mackie MR8.

There are a lot of choices in that range.
