Hi all! I am a 28 year old single mother who has done all the "right" things. Put myself through school, got a government job, bought a house... But recently, I have felt the need to do something to make me happy, and not just follow all of society's rules- which is singing! I have always been a closet singer (shower, car, etc..). I have zero formal training, technique, know-how, or anything like that. I have terrible trouble singing high notes, and halfway through a song, I am tired and out of breath- so... yeah. My real passion seems to be in writing catchy songs for kids, so even if I am not cut out for singing, I can still live my dream, sort of. I have a few contacts (I know one of the gals who sings for the Barbie movies) and I have been encouraged to send in some original music.. I am wondering if I should invest in a few months of vocal training, or just forget it completely and hire someone with actual skills to sing my songs for me???
Thank you all for reading and responding. I am so grateful this site exists! I am including the link to the same question I posted to the yahoo questions forum. I have a little video there of me singing Grace Potter's Something that I Want. Well, it's more a picture of me drinking than a video, lol. No answers there yet
Please critique my singing!! Is it good? Bad? Make you run for the bathroom? Thank you for your honest advice!? - Yahoo Answers
