for what usage?I think I wanna buy a bass amp.![]()
Well, they all sound good to me Greg, I like the i5 on it's own the best though...it's got more "meat" to the sound...Second pick is both mics blended at 100%...& either of the 100/50%'ers in any order for me....Maybe try the i5 @ 75% & the '57 @ 25%, the i5 for the "meat", & the '57 for the bite....I really couldn't tell a lot of difference in the 50/100 blended clips, but my hearing's fucked tonight, my ears are still ringing from the noise at work...I'll listen tomorrow through my monitors & let you know if I change my mind...
I think I'm gonna have to get an i5, that mic on it's own sounds really good, & blended with the '57 is good too...
Might post up some of my shit tones tomorrow, depends on how much drum programming I get done before work....LOL...
Hang in there Greg, the flu/cold will go away before long & you'll be back to your normal/regular self...
I do love the way the plexi sounds recorded man, you're killing me over here....For me, that's "the" amp....maybe one day I'll get one, maybe a low-watt clone or something to hold me off until then...you're killin' me....![]()
Hell, a Bassman would be badass, but I don't wanna spend that much on a bass rig.A good bass amp is a good thing to have as some double for guitar really well.
I had a 70's Fender Bassman to play with for a while in about 86. It sounded great on bass and guitar.
Just recording. Like before with guitar amps, I'm tired of using other people's stuff and I don't wanna record direct bass. I want character. I might just get a bass cab. I've considered it before, just getting like a 2x10 cab and running my bass through one of my Marshalls. My worry is going overboard like I've done with guitar amps. Sometimes I can't help myself.for what usage?
well ............... I like my little 2x10 rig though it's usually not enough to keep up with a drummer unless he's pretty soft but for recording it's fine.Just recording. However ...... I must point out that you consistently have excellent bass sounds on your recordings with whatever you've been using.
Also ..... at low volumes there's absolutely no reason you couldn't just use one of your 4x12 cabs.
I actually record bass pretty often thru a POS Marshall MG-15 with an 8" speaker! Obviously I could blow that speaker in a second if I turned it up but I've done it for years with no problem because I'm not a dumbass. Thanks man. I think I just get lucky on bass. I've used a bunch of different shit. Maybe it's just my bass sounds the same through everything. It's just a cheap ol junky Squier P-Bass.
You're probably right I could just use one of the cabs without the Greenbacks in it. I definitely don't wanna push bass through those things. I'll give it a try on my next tune. I do like a little grit and grime in my bass tone usually. My JMP 50 is a pretty bassy amp too. I'll give that a try.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say you're gonna be surprised at how good a bass sound you can record with that.Hmmm, well the JVM has a shit ton of preamp gain at low volume if I want it, so maybe that would be the better amp to use. It also has an effects loop. I can throw my EQ pedal in there to fine tune if need be. I'll give it a try with my #3 cab. That's my most beat up, stays in the garage, gets used only for band practice cab. It's got four G12T-75s in it. They're fairly tough and I've got spares so that will be the guinea pig.
