Actually.....yeah that is sort of my goal. I want the main ones anyway. .

:D
30th anniversary 6101 in blue tolex with the special design 200 watt EV speaker is a must have! :D

And no ...... I'm not selling it at the Marshall forum because I ain't shipping it.

Actually it looks like Deb's getting a job she's really gone after and if so ( I don't count on anything until it's in the bank) .. but if she gets it we'll be in the black again and I ain't sellin' nothing!!!

Thanks Greg,
Yeah, I think the finish/color looks more "classic", like a LP should....I still like the blue, but again, the desert burst looks killer too....The pickguard will go dude, no question, probably as soon as I open the box it comes in...LOL...I had a LP years ago, but that was before I was so picky/anal about my tone, I'd just plug in & play (during my gig days....)...Things sure have changed for me music-wise in the last few years, but IMO it's a good thing....

But, I'm still gonna get another pointy shred machine or two eventually too...:) I almost bought the Kramer Pacer classic, until I read some reviews by people who have both, & from what I've read, the new ones are just shit compared to the old ones....I had a couple Kramers back in the day, & both of 'em I had were great, I suppose the new ones are just marketing hype to get people like me to buy 'em....

I'm also picking up a cheap Behringer C1 mic (I've heard really good clips using this mic with the 1w amps btw, & I could use it for other shit too...), along with another short mic stand/boom for my ISO cab...

The dicks at work already dropped the bomb that we've gotta work this Saturday, so that cuts my mini-vacation to 4 days....bastards....But, that's ok, I can handle it, I have for years, plus, it's overtime....

I'm so stoked about getting this guitar, I'm thinking of paying for 1 or 2 day shipping, so I'll have it the whole time I'm off work next week.....:laughings:
awesome!! Be sure to get a hard case instead of the standard gig bag it comes with ..... gig bags are stupid. They're not really any smaller than a case and they don't protect worth shit.

I aint interested anyway. :D

I've got my buddies pointy as shit shredtastic jumbo fret floyd rose/EMG equipped DBZ fag metal guitar sitting here for sale. I hate it even being here. :laughings:

Bob: Hope everything works out for you man, I hate to hear you selling any of your gear, whether you use it or not....It's tough out there man, I know, I work for a living too dude, hang in there though...

On the case, I'm gonna wait, & to be honest, the gig bag will do here at the house for now....The gear I have now has left my home 1 time in 5 years, that was to record some stuff at the church near my parents' house....And, I plan on having the new LP in my hands the whole time I'm here anyway....:p

Greg: Pics & a price dude, you never know...:)

So, I got the bonus check I was expecting today, and......it's bigger than I thought it'd be, so, I'm pulling the trigger on the LP tomorrow!!!! Fuckin' stoked guys!!!! I'm getting the LP Studio 2014 in Desert Burst, 490/498 p'ups, with the 60's neck....Still gotta think about the shipping thing though, I might go with the 2-day thing so it'll be here Saturday night when I get home, if I do the free shipping, I won't get it until after my mini-vacation, & I'd be pretty bummed....Fuck, I might even do the 1-day thing....But again, gonna pull the trigger tomorrow before I leave for work on the Gibson LP Studio 2014 in desert burst...Pics & clips to come when it arrives of course, fuckin' stoked!!!!!!

Cool man ..... congrats in advance ..... I know you're excited ......... I was always partial to a cherry 'burst ........ that 'desert' burst looks nice. And nothing chugs like a paul ..... for some of that stuff you're doing the paul's gonna be the perfect sound for it. Nothing better.

And thanks for the kind words ...... I'm sure it'll get better ..... I'm really not worried about it .... we've always known how to make money so this should be a good year ...... I hope so ..... being poor is getting old. I've enjoyed it about as much as I can stand. :D

But not really to keep my equipment ...... I know it doesn't make sense to you, but ... I really don't give a crap about any of my gear. ..... I've had more gear than some stores ..... really ..... huge amounts of gear coming and going for 45 years ..... the main reason I wouldn't sell the Marshall is that selling an amp is a pain in the ass unless you run into someone locally that wants it. I have zero interest in trying to box up and ship an amp and I'm wary of Craig's List so if I don't have to sell it, it can just sit in the corner and occasionally get turned on.
But for me it has more to do with not wanting to be bothered with selling it than it does with me caring about it.
I'd sell absolutely anything I have right now if someone came along. Get something else and then get bored with that too ....

Excited.....yeah dude, I'm as happy as a puppy with 2 peckers....and I haven't even gotten it yet...Can't wait to try it out through my 'lil amps.....Thanks Bob!!!

I know all about being poor dude, the story of my life really, but again, hang in there man, you gotta keep going, can't give up...That's what my Dad has told me all my life, & really, it's the truth.....

Oh, I "get it" dude, I've had lots of gear myself, I just sold it all to fund a nasty drug habit a few years ago, but that's all in the past, & I've been moving on for almost 7 years now...Have to say, I've came a long way in those 7 years, & I'm actually quite proud of myself to be honest.....Used to be a totally different person....

I'd say it'd be a bitch to pack/ship that big 'ol combo dude, & I don't trust very many people either really....Lots of folks who rip others off for a living these days....

And, I know about getting bored with gear too man, it happens......

Gonna grab a bite to eat & get some sleep, big day for me tomorrow, gonna pull the trigger on a fuckin' Gibson!!!! :guitar:;)

gonna pull the trigger tomorrow before I leave for work on the Gibson LP Studio 2014 in desert burst...Pics & clips to come when it arrives of course, fuckin' stoked!!!!!!

\o/ congratulations on the new mail order bride :D

i know you worked for it but you LUCKY foooker !!!

That's awesome! Are you getting the one in that link you posted earlier? Because the description on that one says 490/490 pickups. If you're expecting 490/498s, you need to get a different guitar or that ad is wrong. But that aside, it's gonna be awesome. I gotta warn you though, the nuts on modern Gibsons are finicky. You might need to gently backfile it a little bit or do about a thousand big bends seat the strings in. And we're gonna do that speaker trade very soon dude. :D

On the craigslist thing, I do tons of deals through craigslist. I've never experienced any weirdness, but I know the potential is there. Most of the time, the person I'm meeting is a little leery of the situation too. I have a few safety nets in place before I do any CL deal: 1) I get as much personal info on the person I'm meeting before we meet and give it to the wife. If they don't wanna tell me their name, what they'll be driving, phone number, etc, then there's no deal. When we meet I jot down their license plate number before I get out of the car and text it to the wife. 2) Always meet in a public place unless it's just not practical. I've sold engines on CL. I'm not hauling a Chevy long-block to the wal-mart parking lot. But anything that's able to be carried gets loaded up and we meet in public. 3) Bring a friend whenever possible. 4) Bring weapons. Lol. I've never had any problems, but I try to get my ducks in a row just in case. If I get shot or robbed, at least there will be something to give to the police.

I must've mis-typed what p'ups are in the LP dude, but yeah 2014 LP Stuidio w/490R/T in desert burst, the Behringer mic, & a short boom stand....so far...:laughings:
I might sneak another mic or something in on the old lady....:D.That brings the total to just under $1,100....the shipping is: 2-day: $25, or 1-day air: $53....I'm probably just gonna do the 2-day/$25 shipping, as I don't think it'll be here before Monday either way, but if I don't do some kind of "extra" shipping, it'll be after Christmas before I get it, which would be fine, but I wanna play that bad boy during the 3-4 days I'm off from work....I'll find out in a few minutes when I call the order....

Fuck dude, I'm stoked as hell....I haven't been this excited since I got back into playing about 5-6 years ago & ordered the Strat & Spider Valve amp....you know, I usually "ask" the old lady if it's ok to buy/order something, on this one, I told her....For fuck's sake, I've worked a couple Sundays here in the last little while dude, so if I'm gonna bust my ass like that, I'm gonna get some shit that I want in the process....Life's too short not to...My wife doesn't want for anything either, & she doesn't work...hell, my son still lives here, even though he's 23 & has a full-time job (very, very good kid, I'm very proud of him btw dude, I see kids his age everywhere that are out into all kinds of shit, but he's a great kid....I must've done something right along the way....), I still take care of his ass, just like I have all these years....

On the Craig's List thing, that's how I got my Line 6 X3L dude, I met a guy locally & traded my Spider Valve amp for it (he threw in a bunch of extra stuff plus some $$$, I paid over $800 for that amp new, & had only had it a couple months), but I'm really wary of people too...I had the wife video us (we took both vechicles, & the guy didn't know I really wasn't alone), write down tag #'s, just like you mentioned.....Plus, I pack a Beretta 9mm everywhere I go too, you never know when you'll have to "bust a cap"....LOL....

I'm gonna get off this fuckin' computer & spend some $$$ dude....I'll be back before I go to work to let you know when it's gonna be here, & if I added anything else...LOL...

Ok guys, I did it....pulled the trigger on the Gibson LP Studio 2014, Behringer C1 condensor, & a 7" boom stand with a mounting bracket for my ISO cab...I did the 2-day shipping, so it'll all be here Monday....Total for today's adventure: $1,100 including the 2-day shipping.....

So, I am totally fucking ..............STOKED!!!

Come on Monday!!!! I bet the next few days will fuckin' drag by, but I'm gonna try to hold it together guys....Really fuckin' excited about this one, thanks to everyone here who's helped me for the last few years with my gear, tone, etc., can't wait to get the LP....

Merry Christmas guys, clips & pics to come Monday!!!!!!

Greg: Did you pull the trigger on the Plexi???? Lemme know dude, price, condition, etc., and of course, we gotta have some clips when you get it....Just wanna tell you thanks too man, for all the help/suggestions along the way

congrats Minerman! Looking forward to the clips.

I sold an amp on CL for the first time a few weeks ago - after waiting for a couple of hours in and out of the cold in the designated parking lot with a Kimber weighing me down, exchanging texts pushing the time back and back, they finally showed up and it was a group of kids from a *remote* suburb who had been driving most of that whole time (and now had to drive back, of course). I was like 'aww' - almost wanted to just give the amp to them. Anyway, I got the (not much) money, went home and didn't get enough sleep, then the next morning at work, I'm chugging coffee and thinking wtf

Man that's awesome! I'm happy for you. You're gonna rock that shit. :)

Yup, the Plexi is on it's way. Should be here monday or tuesday. $1000 + shipping from a GC in Utah. I think the condition might be a little rough; the pics showed some nicks here and there on the head box, but nothing major that I could see. All I care about is that it works. A little wear and tear looks good on a Plexi anyway. :D

Thanks guys, this last guitar/LP purchase is really a big deal for me, I've been using "budget" gear since I started back playing about 5 years ago, & the new LP will be the highest quality instrument/piece of gear I've had in over 10 years.....Pretty excited to say the least, & can't wait until it arrives....

Greg: Cool on the plexi dude, looks like we're gonna have about the same delivery date...Are you gonna take it to your tech that fixed the JMP for you, just to have it checked/looked over??? That's one thing about buying used gear I'm leary of, but, it's a chance you take with new stuff too, I just like to have the warranty thing myself, gives me peace of mind I suppose....

And, I'm already thinking on my next "big" thing to buy too....There's rumors that Marshall is coming out with a new "big" amp this spring/late winter, just depends on what it is, but, if it fits my needs ( & doesn't cost an arm & leg...maybe just a leg, I'd need my arm to play...:)), I might spring for one, but again, just depends on what it is really....

I think my guitars will be fine from now on, I'll have the Strat, Ibanez, & LP, & those 3 should cover just about anything I'd want, tone-wise concerning my guitars.....Pretty happy with my little amps (for now anyway), the Egnater covers the vintage/classic stuff fairly well (IMO anyway), & the 'lil Marshall does a killer job for classic rock - metal (metal for me is 80's stuff, I can't stand the nu-metal/downtuned shit with cookie monster vocals, I personally think it's insulting to classify that as metal....)...

Speakers are next on the "list" really, if/when I get the T-75 from Greg, & possibly a WGS ET65, that should round out my speaker-choice for these little amps....

There's some more things that are on my "list" too, pedals....I almost added the Red Bogner pedal to the order this morning, but backed out at the last minute...While I've got the $$$ to buy it, I'm always afraid something will happen here at the house (vehicle break-down, washing machine taking a huge shit, something of that nature), so I backed on the pedal....Yeah, I worry a lot about shit, but, I've had some shitty luck with some things in the last couple/few years too...

I might even try some of those cheap JOYO pedals, from what I can tell, they're pretty close to the pedals they clone, at a fraction of the price....but, here we go again with the "budget" thing too....Might just buy a Carl Martin Plexitone (I've wanted one forever now), a Bogner Blue & Bogner Red, use the delay/time-based stuff from the POD, & call it a day....maybe...:laughings:

Sorry for the long post, but my mind's going 100mph right now, can't wait until the LP arrives, really, really excited about the new guitar....and of course, I'll post up some pics & clips when I get it......

I can totally relate. I've always used cheap, budget, knock-off, swap meet, no-name, guitars. Memphis, Hondo, Fernandes, Squier, Teisco, Harmony, I've had bunches of them. I briefly had a 70s SG in the early 90s that got stolen, but back then I didn't really know what I had. It was just a guitar. I had an Epiphone Rivoli bass, it too was stolen. I liked that bass, but didn't know it had vintage collectible potential. All stolen. In like 1992-93 one of my dad's friends gave me a MIM Strat, and up until last year when I got my LP that was the "best" guitar I had. A real Fender. But it wasn't until around 2004-2005 that I started really paying attention to what I think is good and what isn't. Up to that point I just went with whatever. SS amp and a Rat pedal? Fine. I made it rock. But I've been making up for my lack of interest in gear over the decades by going hog-wild with my latest purchases. I guess it's like a mini mid-life crisis maybe? I'm only 40, but maybe that's what it is. I always loved Marshalls. I always wanted Marshalls. But I just never really convinced myself to pull the trigger on one. Now I've had like 5 in the past three years. And these 5 aint no toys either. Real big shit. I think of it like....when I was 15 and started playing music, I didn't set any goals or care about anything but just playing. I didn't care what guitar or amp I used. I didn't care about my drums. Throw a bass in the trunk with tools and jacks bouncing all over it. No problem. But how much gear would I have gone through by now if I did care about gear all those years? Probably a lot. I'm just trying to catch up. :D

I will definitely take it to "my guy" at Steamboat amps. I like his style. I don't know anything about anything, but he makes me feel at ease. I got it through Guitar Center's used inventory, so I have a 30-day return policy. I can return it for a full refund to any store. When it shows up, I'll jam it a little, and get it to the tech ASAP. If he says it's good-to-go, and it sounds good, I'll keep it. If not, it gets returned. No worries. I'm only out of pocket for a tech checkup. It's worth it to me. And while he has it, since it's a reissue (2001 1959 SLP) not a true vintage priceless 60s Plexi.....we'll talk mods. I am definitely going to want some kind of master volume mod. Probably a PPIMV. I do not want to buy an attenuator. Hell I might be able to do the PPIMV mod myself. It's supposed to be really easy.

I don't have much faith in any new Marshalls. Some of their new amps are killers - like the YJM, JVM, AFD, etc. But really, they cost a ton of money and all they're doing is repeatedly chasing their own sound. The Bluesbreakers, 1959/1987s, 2203/2204s are the kings. It's like everything Marshall has ever done since around 1985 has been trying to re-capture those vintage sounds. They also try to get too cute with little amps and Slash shit. If they just made a few faithful re-creations of their classics with a few modern features, and made them affordable, they'd put everyone else out of business. That's why I like the new DSLs. They're relatively affordable, and have some true Marshall mojo without gimmicks. Imagine if Marshall re-made the JCM 800 with a few little extras like an fx loop and maybe a switchable additional gain stage, and priced it in the $800-1000 range? They'd sell a bazillion of them. Why in the holy fuck does the current JCM 800 or Plexi reissue cost $2500 new? How much fucking R&D did they have to put into those things? They already know how to make them. I can barely put up Christmas lights without electrocuting myself, but I can probably build a fucking 1959 circuit. Why does Marshall charge $2500 for one? Everyone knows Super Leads and 800s are the shit. The used market is full of them, and people want crazy money for them, and people will pay crazy money for them. But not many people want to shell out $2500 for a reissue of an original that they can get for a grand less. $2000 for a JCM 900 Dual-Reverb reissue? Are you fucking kidding me? Seriously? First time I saw that I thought it was a misprint, then I saw that it wasn't and facepalmed myself into a concussion. First off, why would Marshall re-issue their least popular and most maligned amp ever, and secondly, 2000 fucking dollars? You can find mint 900 DRs for 500 bucks used. 500 dollars. That's what those amps are worth. A far cry from 2000 dollars. Marshall just does silly things to me, so fuck them. As long as their good stuff is still out there on the used market, I personally see no need to get excited about anything new. Would I love to get my hands on a YJM? You bet....but it's just a super hot-rodded Super Lead. Marshall just continually chases their own tail.

Ha, don't even get me started on "metal". I loathe metal and pretty much all of it's sub-genres and permutations. I personally don't really classify typical 80s stuff as metal though. 80s metal to me is stuff like Slayer, Megadeth, early Metallica, Ozzy's first two albums, early Maiden, early Priest. All the spandex hairspray stuff is just glam rock. There's nothing metal about Dokken or Cinderella. Van Halen is about as metal as One Direction. To me, all that 80s stuff was glam boy-bands that played hard rock. Some people consider Back in Black or Appetite "metal" albums. No way. Not me. Those fruity glam bands had great guitar tones though. George Lynch had tone out the wazoo. EVH re-wrote the book on guitar playing and sounded awesome doing it. Slash re-vitalized the Les Paul. I think Dokken and Van Halen's songs are pure shit though. :laughings:

I might even try some of those cheap JOYO pedals, from what I can tell, they're pretty close to the pedals they clone, at a fraction of the price....but, here we go again with the "budget" thing too....
I've never used one, but I've heard lots of good things about those cheapo Joyo pedals.

There's some more things that are on my "list" too, pedals....I almost added the Red Bogner pedal to the order this morning, but backed out at the last minute... ...
the blue Bogner is kinda on my list but look ..... you like that vintage Marshall sound and even though he used a Hi-Watt, Page's Zeppelin tone is a classic sound that most folks of your tone preference like .... so check out the Catlinbread RAH ..... it's number one on my list to get pretty damned soon.

Jimmy Page is mostly recognized as a Marshall player, but he really used pretty much everything. I think he even used a Pignose sometimes in the studio.

Greg: Nice story man, reminds me of myself a lot....If I hadn't sold all my gear about 10 years ago, I wouldn't have to be doing all this shit again, but I did, & here I am so....Gonna go look at the JOYO pedals & try to find out all I can about 'em, might order a few of 'em after Christmas....

Bob: You've posted that pedal before, but it didn't come to mind until you re-posted, thanks dude, gonna put it on the "list"....

C'mon Monday...:laughings:
