Ha! Hey...if it works....it works!

I don't think I'd call them useless fucks just because they don't want to play through a real amp. If they kick ass.......they kick ass!! No matter what they play through right?? Whether it's a real amp or, as you'd call it: 0101010101010101010101010101010's. Is it really lowering your standards....or is it just an image thing??

Image is important. Hey if you wanna roll out of bed and do a gig in your pajamas and morning breath plugged into your lame ass iphone, knock yourself out. Just let me know when and where you're playing so I can go somewhere else. But that's not really all there is to it. It does matter to me what people play through. I want to know, or at least believe that I'm getting the real deal when I see someone play out live. Not some shmoe that's too lazy, broke, and/or stupid to use a real amp. I don't wanna hear backing tracks, e-drums, or sims. I want real sounds coming from real equipment being played by real players. If anything less than that is okay with you, then you're part of the problem as far as I'm concerned.

Always?? I don't think so.

Yes....always.
I know so....you just think it ain't so. :)

Sims are not mainly about "tone" they are mostly about "convenience"....even if some have decent tones.
You're missing the point...they are simulations of *real tube amps*...get it?
How can a simulation be better than the thing it's trying to simulate?

....sound better than your amps!!

:D

You don't even know what amps I have....HTF can you then know some sim is going to sound better than my amps?

Is it really lowering your standards....or is it just an image thing??

It's mainly about tone.....but image can add to it or take away from it.
You can decide what image works for you.
Go look at some real tube amps....then look at that "iStack" or some "pod". :laughings:

Sims are not really about tone??? Hahahahaha!!!!! Then why do they have all the knobs on them to adjust the sound of them???? Geez!!

Dude....those are not "knobs", they're just grapic simulations of knobs...
...just like sim "tone" is only an attempt to simulate the tone of a real amp.

You still don't get it. :D

Oh....those are not real monsters in your xBox either......and no, you don't really have a laser gun to kill them with.

Always?? I don't think so. There's players out there that can make any processor/simulator sound better than your amps!!

I don't think you read his post correctly.... It kind of goes along with what you said here:
Just all depends on the player and how well they can run their equipment.

All I know is that I've used both and for what I need.....the processors have more than met my needs...and I haven't sacrificed tone for it. If I thought I was then I wouldn't use 'em. Now...if I was going to a blues jam...I'd take my amp.

Sorry you guys get so butt hurt over this stuff......but I still maintain that, if you know what the hell you're doing, you can get great sounds out of them....even in live situations. I've heard them with my own ears.

Would it be ok to play in pajamas with morning breath if I had a marshall stack that sounded like crap?

It wouldnt, but yes that would be okay.

Hahaha!! Let me see if I understand this correctly. I could be playing a crappy sounding tube amp (not all tube amps sound great) and that would be ok....but if I was playing through a processor and had great tone...that wouldn't be ok because I was too lazy, poor, stupid, ...etc to use a real amp? I've heard my fair share of bad sounding amps (and good ones as well). I don't think that I'd shun the dude that had a good tone just because he was using something that was using the pod/sim/effects processor...etc. And what problem am I a part of? Is there a guitar processor problem or something?....because if there is, then there's always been the bad amp sounding problem before that

You're part of the problem of music becoming more and more fake, sterile, safe, and uninteresting.

Nah!! I don't think so dude!! I agree that a lot of music today is sterile and uninteresting....but I don't think it's all the equipment's fault either. Adios fellas!!

Delete these last two posts, Chili....I kinda fat-fingered the keyboard.

Ha ha, you didn't say please. :D

If I were to gig, I would definitely bring along a modeler to help me out. I'd use the stomp box sims so I wouldn't have to buy them. Thank God I don't gig. lol

Man, just read the opinions here as they were written. No tube guy ever said that sims are bad. Only the guys using them are seeming defensive.

Do what the f**k suits you and quit arguing stupid s**t and go make or play something worthy. Sims or amps. Who cares. They both suck if the guitar player sucks.

Most guitar players that don't suck, don't care to argue... Just saying...
