Hi everyone. Brand new here, and may I quickly apologize if this is posted elsewhere, I did a search in various ways but did not see any threads relating.

My issue is my DP-32 USB is working fine on my XP and Vista machines, (both 32 bit), but on a new Windows 7 (64 bit) machine I get the dreaded Code 43 error: "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems". This only happens with the DP-32. I have tried all ports, and every other USB device I have including thumb drives work properly on this machine. Tried different cords, actually just about every cross-check I can think of.

Upgraded the firmware to no avail.

Anybody gone through this? I do have an email to Tascam support and await a reply from them which I will share if we get this running.

I have read where sometimes WIN-7 will not acknowledge a FAT-32 drive. Also tried a MAC file reader, no go.

Thanks for any ideas...

Mike

I've never experienced your problem, but I can tell you that I had no issues connecting to my DP-24 (same firmware, etc) to a Win7 desktop, and to a Win7 Starter netbook.

OK thanks RustyAxe. Using your comment for ruling out WIN 7 issues, I starting digging further. No matter which port on my computer I plug the Tascam into, it fails.

HOWEVER, if I plug it into my 10 port hub along with all the other stuff, it works. Tried this over and over and it fails in the PC, works in the hub every time. Go figure.

Of all the stupid things to cause this.

Anyway, fixed for now, at least it's working. I'll spend some more time on this on a cold winter day I guess. Right now it ain't broke so I'm not gonna fix it...

*SOLVED* DP-32, Windows 7 64 bit - USB, unrecognized device error

Well I just got done with an hour and fifteen minutes with Dell support on my pesky machine. The rep logged onto my PC, re-installed drivers, flashed BIOS, did it all.

Same results afterwards. Works in some ports, not others.

New Motherboard on the way.

Thanks - Mike

I had the Code 43 problem.
Reinstalled drivers, Updated firmware etc etc.
In the end it turned out the usb cable was faulty.

As bad as that is, at least you're not going crazy. MB troubleshooting has to be the hardest to troubleshoot as they are the least frequent.

Update: Problem persists!! NOT solved...

Dell tech came out, installed new motherboard, new USB ports, flashed BIOS to most current. Problem persists.

End results:

If my DP-32 USB is plugged into my 2.0 10 port hub, then into the PC, it works (on all ports). Plugged in directly, it does not work.

Very strange. The only new direction I can try now is either a Windows issue or USB 3.0 port issue with the Tascam. Also going to try to boot to a different OS to see what happens.

At least I have a workaround with the hub for now :)
