But instead of feeling so challenged and hurt and dishing out insults, why tf not just join in and have a good time? Christ, how hard would it be to help people out once in a while? I mean, *you* are asking for input here, right? So what about a little give and take?

Nothing wrong with helping...until you insist on it.
Then you're just a manipulative bully.

I haven't been here long, but even I picked up rather quickly, to get you have to give. You seem to be really very negative and with a join date of 2001 and 299 posts, you haven't really been helping others out very much. You shouldn't be upset that others didn't help you out.

I'm not. Unwritten rules upset me greatly. They're very unprofessional.
Men use them on women to keep them down and unequal.
Bullies use them.
You should be upset, as well.
It's the mind set that you must give to get that keeps people in the world starving when there is no need for them to.

Maybe I am still in the "honeymoon" period with this site. I really like how people here help with advice and just general sense of community. I get what you are saying about unwritten rules in most cases, but I think in this case, it seems reasonable without being hard and fast. I guess it didn't surprise me as it made sense to push greater participation.

I have a hard time to listen to new music, but I eventually will post my songs. So, I am building up sweat equity ;) but listening to some of the other people's tunes has really been a pleasant surprise.

With all the years you've been doing this, you have a lot of knowledge that really could have helped a lot of people and you really didn't. You really shouldn't be angry if you are not getting back what you aren't willing to give (Just sayin') Written or unwritten, most everyone knows that is a general life rule.

I've no desire to get into a flame war, but you're not really equating your lack of feedback with world famine are you? Really???

In a sense, you're a bit unlucky because you posted your album up at the exact same time when there's a bit of a debate on here about people doing just that without much in the way of contribution themselves. I guess that folks who do contribute regularly eventually just get pissed with spending time listening to and providing useful feedback on people's songs only for them never to return (either to give anything back themselves or even say thanks).

If you want to see what a forum of people who just post their own works without listening to anyone else's looks like then take a look at the rap subforum. It's a complete waste of time - people plugging their stuff and nobody listening to anyone else's - even those that claim to either manage to link their own beats page on the comment or add one word comments on so many posts in such a short space of time that they can't have actually listened to any.

Pretty much everyone on here is either an amateur musician or runs a studio etc. so I agree that it's nobody's job to actually listen, but if you're not contributing other than posting your own stuff then why should anybody listen to a full album of yours? You clearly want people to listen because you bumped your thread for a response within four hours of posting.

I'm not looking to pile on, just hopefully give you a fair explanation why you got the response you did. This place is great for providing useful feedback and I've improved tons over the last couple of years - overwhelmingly due to the help on here.

You know that the principle is the same. Please don't be silly..

i was called out my your moderator because I'm unlucky?...absurd.

Just like what happened here tonight...

I didn't ask any one to listen to a whole album.
I posted a whole album.
Anyone could have listened to whatever amount they wanted. No one listened to anything. I was deemed not worthy because I don't contribute to your standards.

Thanx for trying.

Not angry about that..said that already. As I said, it's a general life rule that is abused by people in power to keep people down. EVERYONE deserves respect. I was shown none. I was told by the moderator that I didn't meet the standards of his "unwritten Law". Saying people don't deserve respect until they contribute in a certain way is what is wrong with the world we live in. Society lets people die because they are deemed worthless when they didn't contribute according to someone else's standards. Because you agree with it doesn't make it OK...

Same goes for you...
I asked for opinions on my mixes.
I didn't ask for your love, you fucking fathead.
What makes you think I want it?
It's not my job to help out other members of this forum, as I'm almost never here, although at over 18,000 posts, you might think it's your job.
(You're NOT the moderator????)
Show me where it says in the forum rules that you must meet some certain standard to get a mix opinion?
Grow the fuck up..
18,000 posts...really?
Are you really helping people with your condescending attitude, precious..or just pimping your CD in your signature?

Lol. :laughings:

What a crybaby.

Hmmm, as I said I have no desire to get into a ridiculous argument about the minutae with you or needlessly antagonise you. You are of course welcome to post up whatever you want and contribute as little as you want to help anybody else. You don't need me to tell you that.

However, there's some pretty daft stuff in your response.

The principle is very different between your lack of feedback and world famine is really pretty different. World starvation exists because it's too difficult for anyone to fix - trade agreements, poverty, corruption and self interest all combine to create a system where nobody can unpick it. How on earth do you do it? You redistribute all the surplus food in one country to another and in doing so, you destroy their own economy and attempts at self-sufficiency. The only way that you can really address it is allowing developing nations a degree of protectionism - they increase their import tariffs, while keeping their export tariffs low. Even then, you've got to somehow address low level corruption and ensure that it's part of a coherent development plan. The people who are starving are doing so because they're trapped in this cycle and have no choice or means to escape.

Your lack of feedback on the other hand is very simply because you've chosen not to engage in the forum and actively participate other than to promote your own stuff. No more, no less. In your analogy, you're more like North Korea - you potentially have the means to engage, but you've isolated yourself and because you've taken a daft stance. You now have no choice but to act belligerently to survive.

You are a little unlucky in the sense that you posted up your stuff in the manner that you did at the time where this discussion was going on. Normally you'd have bumped it a couple of times, got no response and moved on. As it is, you've ended up getting into this row. You've become a head on a stick outside the tower of London. I didn't think there was anything particularly contentious in that.

No one insulted this guy, and he still went on an immediate attack and tirade. Totally insecure.

I saw this thread had 30 responses in 12 hours and thought there must be something spectacular to listen to. Nevermind.

I meant to listen to it because I genuinely like rockabilly, but then it got taken down out of butthurt.

I'm not. Unwritten rules upset me greatly. They're very unprofessional.

Common courtesy is an unwritten rule.
As soon as you try to quantify it and make it a written rule it's game over, in my opinion.

This forum isn't a paid subscription; You're owed nothing.
The only reason it exists is because there are people around here with 8000 posts or whatever.
Without those people, this forum would almost exclusively be spambots and 'look-at-me--tell me I'm great--Hurry up--write back NOW!' threads.
The regular members choose to take the time to help people out, and if they choose not to bother based on certain attitudes or demands, then fair enough.
That doesn't need to be a written rule.

You've deleted the original posts, but given that they were thirteen hours and nine hours ago, I guess patience isn't one of your virtues.
I'd have said what Jim said.

All this in 13 hours. Wow!

I saw the post before I went to sleep last night and came to listen today as I also like Rockabilly but it's gone. Oh well......

Exercise in patience is required around here before taking your ball home :thumbs up:

At no time was I treated with courtesy.

You were rude and clueless.

and still are...

What happened to you? After this many years being on this site, this seems very strange.

Mods. You might want to check to see if his account was hacked. This is seems pretty weird for a person with such an early join date. This is behavior usually reserved for newbies and drive byes.
