So I was all psyched to record through my new studiolive 16.0.2 today. I was going to have to hook it to my mac because my PC doesn't have firewire yet (card will arrive Monday). So I get the studio live unboxed and setup, start playing with it and go to hook up firewire.. Mac mini has like a mini firewire... YARRRGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Just felt like sharing my pain. So now my new toy is just sitting on my desk staring at me, begging me to play with it. I did at least check out the fat channel and other fun stuff on it. My allen and health zed 10fx had nice clean preamps on it, this does too. Put up my C214 right beside my air vent and could hear it cleanly through my headphones. Turned up the gate a couple clicks and it went perfectly silent while still sounding amazing on my voice.

Can't wait to play more

No, there are two types of firewire.
Most audio interfaces use firewire400 while most current macs have firewire800 ports (twice as fast)

All you need is a common Firewire800 to Firewire400 cable or adapter plug ($10-15).

This is a good thing because if you put firewire800 drives on the chain and leave the fw400 interface till last, the drives will run at fw800 speeds.
(My chain is iMac -> fw800 samples drive -> fw800 projects drive -> Motu828mkII )
BTW: I ran this same chain on my Windows laptop for 5 years before switching over to an iMac...)
