Also from what I can see, allot of other people didn't include the proper tag either. Thats really sad because allot of those mixes are very good. I hope the puremix guys overlooked such a trivial mistake and listened to our mixes. I guess we will find out tomorrow...
There were nearly 3000 submissions, though. I don't think we'd be able to gauge whether someone listened to us, or not, based on whether or not we won. We've got almost 3000 folks thinking that their mix is the best out of, literally, thousands of submissions. LoL, I think I predict a backlash, no matter the outcome, although I hope it doesn't turn out that way. Look at it this way: if I don't place in the top 16, personally, I'll likely believe (internally, based on my own obvious biases) that my mix was definitely better than [insert future winners' names' here]. lol -- But the reality of the matter is, what sounds good to me isn't necessarily what sounds good to the next person. What I would personally consider the perfect criteria for judging mixes isn't going to be the same criteria as the next person. We all are listening and mixing in different rooms, on different systems and monitors, have different tastes, etc. In a contest like this, in which so many people are involved, I think it's really hard to 'expect' much of anything; and I've actually just paraphrased fHumble here (sorry, fHumble, for revealing details of our private, esoteric colloquies, lol).
Ultimately, bro, I think I turned out a pretty good mix, but if I don't place, I won't be surprised at all. Disappointed? Sure, I'll be a little disappointed, naturally. But there are far too many factors -- some of which I've mentioned above -- that could play a pivotal role regarding my mix not placing in the top 16 tomorrow. For right now, though, I'm still hopeful, crossing my fingers, and prayerful.
I really hope folks understand this message.
And GaugeFX, I listened to your mix; good job. I commented via SoundCloud. If the description is all you didn't have, I don't think they'll necessarily hold it against you, especially if you fixed it before they announced the winners (which hasn't happened yet).
