Too late man. Just like I was too late. I had my file uploaded but forgot to add it to the group. Not much you can do about it. The notes did specify that "all files must meet these requirements to be considered".

On a completely separate note, could you use spell check or something?

I am sorry for my spelling my friend , i am not from an english speaking country. But i dont think i was too late.I posted my mix at june 1st.I think i was right on time and i did add it to the group. That is very strange .....

I rather suspect that the way this is being done is a short list is being prepared by the listening team. I think they have a 'benchmark' for a number of sections of the song and spot listen to those areas to check basic E,Q and balance. The mixes that are higher in volume would be manually turned down to create a level playing field on the listening system. Once a track is deemed worth further listen it may then be downloaded and would be normalised for the final appraisal. There is no way Fab is going to listen to every entry all the way through. With nearly 3000 entries this is the way I would approach it, in fact its EXACTLY how I have been listening to all the mixes I have heard. This of course is pure supposition on my part and I am sure there are a dozen other methods that the team could be using. It does explain why some eligible tracks have not been downloaded. Please...this is only a theory so don't hold me to it :-)

I don't make the rules. Here is what the official rules state:
In SoundCloud advanced settings, please make sure
your mix is "download enabled”.
Only mixes fulfilling
these requirements will be considered for the contest.

Again, I don't make the rules so maybe they will overlook your oversight. On the other hand, it's rules like this that weed out the competition a bit. If we can't follow a few simple rules, they don't need to listen. That being said, I hope they will consider being lenient. I could certainly appreciate some new gear as I'm sure you could.

Well at least that means that they would hear all participations .And further more if I understand well there are others as well that their mix has not been downloaded even thought they do have a valid entry. And that is exactly what I am asking to learn here. That i am not the only one.

Hey, why do you think that my participation is not valid? I do have my mix download enabled and I believe I followed all the rules very carefully .I don’t know why you insist on that theory..Please feel free to check it out..

Sorry. I misunderstood. I thought you had not download enabled your mix as many were not. So I guess the egg is on my face only.

It’s ok , you just made me worry that I did something wrong about the rules , and that’s all.
Well , good luck to everyone here !

I still have no download from puremix. This is a bummer considering the time I put into this mix. I double checked to make sure I met all the criteria but alas, no download. Looks like I may have to face the cold hard fact that my mix might not have been even considered. Are there allot of you still waiting as well?

Ah how delightfully wonderful. It would seem that my submission was not tagged properly in my soundcloud settings. I named the track properly but did not include a description in the tag. Hmmm, It seems like such a small mistake but It probably voided my submission. What a terrible waste of time...

You can see the countries where there was a download.... in your Soundcloud stats.

How can you tell if PureMix has downloaded your mix??

You can't. I have 1 download of my mix and It's from Belarus. Something tells me that isn't the puremix crew. So thats how Im able to draw this conclusion.

Also from what I can see, allot of other people didn't include the proper tag either. Thats really sad because allot of those mixes are very good. I hope the puremix guys overlooked such a trivial mistake and listened to our mixes. I guess we will find out tomorrow...

There were nearly 3000 submissions, though. I don't think we'd be able to gauge whether someone listened to us, or not, based on whether or not we won. We've got almost 3000 folks thinking that their mix is the best out of, literally, thousands of submissions. LoL, I think I predict a backlash, no matter the outcome, although I hope it doesn't turn out that way. Look at it this way: if I don't place in the top 16, personally, I'll likely believe (internally, based on my own obvious biases) that my mix was definitely better than [insert future winners' names' here]. lol -- But the reality of the matter is, what sounds good to me isn't necessarily what sounds good to the next person. What I would personally consider the perfect criteria for judging mixes isn't going to be the same criteria as the next person. We all are listening and mixing in different rooms, on different systems and monitors, have different tastes, etc. In a contest like this, in which so many people are involved, I think it's really hard to 'expect' much of anything; and I've actually just paraphrased fHumble here (sorry, fHumble, for revealing details of our private, esoteric colloquies, lol).

Ultimately, bro, I think I turned out a pretty good mix, but if I don't place, I won't be surprised at all. Disappointed? Sure, I'll be a little disappointed, naturally. But there are far too many factors -- some of which I've mentioned above -- that could play a pivotal role regarding my mix not placing in the top 16 tomorrow. For right now, though, I'm still hopeful, crossing my fingers, and prayerful. :-)

I really hope folks understand this message.

And GaugeFX, I listened to your mix; good job. I commented via SoundCloud. If the description is all you didn't have, I don't think they'll necessarily hold it against you, especially if you fixed it before they announced the winners (which hasn't happened yet).

Your absolutely right. There is no way to tell if our mixes we're listened to by puremix or not. There are allot of factors at work here and its easy to get all wrapped up in the little details. After all, we did spend allot of time working on our mixes. Regardless of how we look at it, there will only be 16 winners out of almost 3000 submissions. Chances are I didn't win. But knowing that I may have wiped out any chance of winning based on a small detail like not putting in the proper tag, kinda drives me nuts. lol. Anyway, I did learn allot from this process so even if I did shoot myself in the foot, it was worth it.

And Clarity, I appreciate you taking the time to listen to my mix and for the awesome comments. I also took a listen to yours and was impressed by it. Very polished and professional mix. I wish you the best of luck in this contest!

Hey man....don't over think it.
There was a contest for songs not too long ago...and a lot of folks submitted....and the band with the nice looking chic singer won. :)

I guess what I'm saying...it's not always about some exact science, where the absolute *best* wins. ;)

Personally....and I don't mean to pick on anyone here....I will be glad when it's over, regardless who wins, as it's been somewhat tedious watching the endless micro-analysis of all these mixes, and hand-wringing over what should/could have been done differently...etc.
If you gave it your best shot....it is what it is.
Life will still go on after tomorrow......even without those Focals on your meter bridge! :D

I am sorry to burst your bubble but, a great mixing engineer can spot a truly great mix from a bunch of good mixes very very easily. A great painter can notice a great painting easily from a bunch of ordinary ones.

When you know your game it "doesn't matter about opinion", what is amazing, IS AMAZING. And if you are amazing, you will easily spot what's amazing.

Besides, even the best mixing engineers I know come to criticize their own mixes, and improve upon them. The best people are great auto-critics.

Dr Dre took 1 month to perfect his mixes, it's called being a perfectionist, and an insatiable auto-critic.

By the way your mix sounds very good! one of the best I've heard(If not the best). Gorgeous balance. One little niggle is that in the chorus the low end gets smaller(master buss comp kicking in?) than in the verse...the other very slight niggle(splitting hairs now) is that the vocal exhibits peaking frequencies from time to time, it's not awful at all but it just 100% controlled(just 95% lol) and it's not nice when it peaks(by the way how did you control those peaks?), the last niggle is that the solo guitar in the break doesn't really fill the gap which the vocal took as a lead. The vocal also changes character a bit in the last chorus and gets hollow at 1 time, maybe your automation kicking in, but normal people won't hear it I guess so no worries. Also the mix isn't very deep nor very big. But again ...splitting hairs here mate :D

Top job man!! I hope you get your twins soon :)
