Sorry to keep this bumped if you're impatient to get another up, but I listened to your new mix Heat. All sounds good to me man - to be honest I'm good with either the lower or more prominent lead.
I think there's a temptation when mixing stuff to always have something out in front throughout - which maybe isn't always the case on professional recordings. Sometimes, I don't think it's such a bad thing for songs to groove along for a while without a definite focal point. I know there have been a couple of threads here recently discussing pro mixing decisions vs non-pro ones and to be honest I struggled to really understand the debate - as from my take, most of the creativity is in the arrangement whereas the mix is more about getting it all to sit well together and so creativity isn't as important? Maybe this is one of those instances though - the more prominent lead does give a different flavour to the song and adds more of an acid fried country feel.
Either way, it's a terrific song

I love this. Great vocals! Tone on the electric guitar is great! The drums have good tone but it almost sounds like it was recorded in an empty apartment room, if I can put it like that. They sound somewhat distant. I actually like that, though. I always like your stuff.
I think I've asked you before but have you considered making an album or some link to buy your mp3s?
Also, did you make a rap song? I think I remember that. I loved that one! Where is it!!!!! NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ha! Ok, bad idea on my part. If people still have comments on this one, I am of course happy to hear them. It was stupid of me to bring it up as I should really just be happy to be getting as much input as I am on this one!

Thanks Magnawolf. I am a huge Beck fan (have tickets to see him in a small theater later this Summer), but am trying not to sound too much like anything in particular I guess. If I do evoke some past decade, better the '90's than the '80's, right?
I know tame impala became a bit of a running gag after your thread, but I actually did try to go more in that direction with these drums...cranked the overheads and heavily compressed them and even add some lo-fi processing, but clearly it isn't that simple.
I thought I asked that when you brought it up? I see now that I didn't. I'd never heard of him, so I googled him when you mentioned it, and while I've heard of blur, I've never heard them. I do like some Gorillaz stuff I've heard though, so I think that's a nice compliment. Thanks both of you.

Thanks again Rob. Yeah, we've sort of dealt with this in other threads I think. Like your track where I suggested a "solo" instrument would be nice, and you explained your ideas on that. I'm with you for the most part, and have a lot of songs where the instrumental passages don't have a feature instrument. I'm a big fan of just having layers of parts that change and shift gradually for a "greater than the sum of it's parts" effect (hopefully). In this case, while I didn't want there to be a typical "solo" at the end, the backing isn't changing much throughout, so I think it kinda needs this focal point? Plus, it just seemed barely audible to me on the first mix?
Acid Fried Country sounds awesome! I checked Soundcloud and they didn't offer that as a genre option

Awesome. Thanks Crows! Yeah, the drums are odd, but I was going for something unrealistic here and I think it sounds pretty cool I guess. Not how I'd do them every time for sure though.
I have thought about a CD, but the little research I did made it seem like such a hassle and expense, and for what? I can't even give these things away...why would people want to buy them??

Ah yes. I thought that was to be the beginning of a long rap career for me, but sadly, it pretty much began and ended there.
Turns out I don't have the right kind of discs at the moment, but I'll get some soon and get something in the mail shortly after.
