Is there any way to inject some nice eq for the Win media player playback? That graphic eq doesn't get it.
I have some eqs on the e-mu patch mix on the internet rig but even that's pretty crude.

What the hell is "nice EQ"?

Most of us spend a lot of time making mixes how they should so they play back properly on a variety of sources (CD player, MP3 player, etc.) without the addition of lots of extra EQ.

Frankly, any EQ found in things like Media Player, Real Player or whatever is going to be a toy like the six sliders and flashing bar graphs on car stereos. You might get it to do the typical "smilie face" graphic EQ which will give you all bass and highs with no real mid (and other things like that--but forget any subtlety.

All of the above^^^^^

Why would you ever wwant to EQ your media player? If there's something wrong with the sound of your mixes, that should be fixed at mix time, not playback time.

I can only assume it's because he's got crappy computer speakers and is trying to eq the sound to overcome their crappiness.

Been there, done that, it doesn't work!

I asked something similar a while back. You can't use any plugins in conjunction with a media player.

I take that back. You can, but it would require two computers and some outboard gear.

Probably the best option for what you want to do is (AND I'M NOT CONDONING THIS), play your music on a DAW like Audacity and EQ that.

There is a media player called foobar2000, for which you can get a vst host plugin

I've used this myself to try to do things from adding a bit more top end to some modern records that roll off everything above 14K or so, to try and repair some truly appalling mixes or mastering jobs that hide otherwise okay songs. With mixed results. :p

Hah! Not for my mixes silly ..for yours!

:p

Ok, kidding aside.

I guess to get some validity going here in the 'Nubie forum... I could list a half dozen reasons a nice eq would be a handy thing to have here. Mostly it's simple; not having to run a DAWs to do it.
.. my crappy sptech 'computer speakers by the way ;)

Thank you I'll check that out.

Just checked it out. Pretty cool!!!!

Can't use my Wave plugins though. :( I only wanted to use my Kramer Tape plugin and add a warble effect. That effect is almost like a fetish. It's weird.
