Do these vocals sound "Poppy" enough?

Not a stitch of pitch correction. I can't afford to purchase it, honestly. But I wanted to lay down vocals that had that super pop sound. So, I re-tracked quite a bit to get it somewhere close and then did some creative application of reverb, chorus, EQ, and compression to see what I could come up with. Am I close?

I think the way you harmonized the chorus is good but there's a bit too much reverb in the chorus. Just bring it down a little bit and it's good. The verses sounded good though. You have a good voice too. :)

Actually the chorus has just a touch of plate reverb. It's mostly chorus and a little bit of delay.

Sounds quite good actually. Maybe a bit thick in the low end of the vocal track, but love your voice. I am listening on my lappy now, so take that with a grain of salt. Not sure you need much tuning. I would be willing to help you there if you wish to make the notes perfect. Free, of course. :)

Oooh... Going straight from Devin Townsend on YouTube to this was probably a bad idea for objective listening!

Anyway. Your vox here sound pretty good. I'm not hearing any real need for pitch correction. You seemed to be pretty spot on.

It seems strange in pop music to have just the melody without any multi-tracking or harmonies. Some of that kind of stuff may make the song sound more like a "pop" song if that's what you're going for.

you have a big noise floor thing going on. if you have a noise control on some plugins turn it off! maybe a converter problem ?

those vocals sounds better than the other song i commented it. the vocals blend much better with the music.
try maybe another short delay.

I'd nudge the vocals just a hair myself - just my preference. The effects are cool they do sound good and poppy. Since you mentioned it - you have a bunch of spots that you could either comp another take and/or pitch correct. I'm so used to it I think I'm falling into that trap aughhh! When you hit it dead on which is most of the song, you sound absolutely fabulous. :D:D:D:D

Thank you, dahling :)

Got a little point in the right direction from a fellow HR'er toward some free plugins so I've been playing around with them and seeing what I come up with. Here's a little remix of part of the track above. Should I keep going with this? How does it sound? Wanting some feedback before I continue with the rest of the song. Thanks so much!

Ah, have you found the fun of a vocoder? :D

I think your voice sounds great without, though the song, and it's genre, do typically use quite a bit of vocal tricks. I actually liked your more natural version of the song, but this sounds great too. Carry on! :)

Very nice! I had to wonder the second time I listened. I'm going to have to try that myself! :)

I am curious how this effect sounds on the chorus. Maybe a bit more of the 'chorus' effect there.

That one was without any compression though....

Here is one with compression on the vocals. Which do you think sounds better?

Crap. Now that I listen to it, I need to back the vocals off juuuuuust a touch with that compression on...Like this...

You are totally jonesing me by cutting it off at the chorus. I protest!!

First you have a great voice! My advice DO NOT go for the poppy sound. Pop vocals ALL sound the same robotic, brittle high pictched sharp sound. With high eq boost. You see how everyone in above post knows exactly the settings/parameters for a "Pop" sound. ( not to discredit any above post these guys are pros and give million dollar advice) but my 2 cents I wanna here YOU triquee not some robotic singer. These days I can't tell who T. Pain is, why? Cause everyone sounds like him. Can't tell the difference from Brittany spears and lady gaga cause their "Poppy" vocals are all eng the same. When does ingenuity pay off? My advice let us here YOU! The real you! Let the style of the song and the beat/production be pop and set that tone ( trust me its enough). But let your vocal be you, cause later in your music career you will be able to "CROSS OVER" into other genres without people being like..."wait who is that again? Oh! I had no idea she even sounded like that?

How to engineer you? Have your ENG eq your strengths and cut out your weaknesses. Very little delay and small amounts of reverb and avoid anything that is robotic or "Poppy". With you being the only you with your voice I think your individuality will allow you to go far and separate you from the masses. Wish you the best!

Individuality is what makes stars. What doesn't is being synonyms and everyone being the same.
