This is a cover of a Chris Rea song that I always wanted to play. I tried it once before and hated the results but hearing it on the radio made me want to try it again. Was happier with the seond round but got no comments here. Thought I would take another shot at it. The rhythm and lead guitars are an SG direct into the audio interface

Its All Gone

If you have the QuickTime virus, wait for the player to come up and click the play button or rightclick the link and save target

Was it something I said or do you just not like this song/mix?

It's pretty good. I might be wrong, but I felt the vocal had a couple of pitch issues and was kind of flaky in spots - might be worth tracking a couple more takes and comping. The percussion is a bit too artificial for me.

Not sure I can help much with the mix, but the cymbal was kind of too far over to the left for me.

Otherwise, good job! Loved the synths and the backing vocals are nice and tight.

Thanks for the response, I do both vocal parts but its the best I can do. Not my forte, lol. Couldn't quite get the "nothing for you here now" right

The lead and rhythm guitars are Gibson SG and the bass is a Fender PBass.

I tried to emulate as much of the synth from the original as I could. I don't know what you mean about the crash, its in the middle to me

Thanks again for commenting. I was thinking, 107 views and not a word... hadda be pretty bad but even bad mixes get some kind of encouragement

As I said, I thought it was pretty good. Vocals aren't exactly my forte, either! I'm still kind of working out my vocal style - wasn't until I started recording that I got an appreciation of what it sounds like and that when it sounds good in my head isn't necessarily when it sounds good outside. Anyway, I therefore track and track and retrack until I get something I'm even vaguely happy with. I think your vocals are very good, actually, but just need a little work and retracking here and there.

All the cymbals were way over to the left for me.

I also heard some cymbals too far to the left. Overall, quite nice though.

Thank you, yes the crash was far left, the ride far right, the hat was also left. Will do some work on that tomorrow and repost

Thanks again for your input, very much appreciated

With thanks for previous input, the points raised have been addressed including some others according to my ears.

Would greatly appreciate you giving it one more listen
