Wasnt sure what forum to put this in?

Last night I was listening to my daughters IPOD and came across this song,The Script-Breakeven, I had heard it before on the radio but had never noticed the terrible hiss underneath much of the track! Is this just a poor recording or purposly left in? I found it very annoying!

If you have time take a listen. Im curious to read everyones opinion.

I hear the hiss too. Unless that is natural hiss coming from a tube amp, I would be left to believe it was added in on purpose. But you never know, they could've been recording with their amps cranked and that could be the resulting hiss.

I just dont get how that hiss was left in the track, unless it was impossible to remove, and if it was impossible to remove why? I guess I may never know.

Sometimes people will leave in some hiss for reasons of character it's not going to be everyones cup of tea. It is obviously subjective as to how much hiss is deemed acceptable in any given recording. in a dynamic piece of course it can get quite obtrusive at times.

On this track I found it very obtrusive and amateur sounding, but what do I know ,Im fairly certain that single off the alblum did quite well.
