I am just wondering because i have my own chain but just want to see what others are doing..

Same thing as a male singer, just different settings. There's isn't a set of presets I throw on the vocal track just because it's a female singer - it's important to customize the plugins and settings for each singer to suit their unique voice.

Normally I start with eq and compression, but I use whatever the recording needs to sound good.

Sounds like the opening line to a dubious cave joke..........

Anyway, I find there's no difference according to gender. The differences will be with particular singers.

On reflection, forget I spoke.
I don't use plug ins !

Ones that reinforce the power of estrogen, yet can compress the level of 'bitch' to one that a man can tolerate. A multiblond compressor is good for this task. I always use a hall pass filter. :D

I forgot to add the 'lol' to my previous post. I was kidding.

I would typically use the same thing I would use on a male singer, which is; whatever the performance needs to make it work within the context. It is never none. But some singers do not need much. And the song has just as much to do with what is needed, as the character of the voice. I myself have no template for what works. Decisions are made based on what is given.

thanks guys, haha i pretty much do the same thing as i do for a male singer i just needed to post 5 threads so i can start posting links LOL
