Hi, this is my first time here and I am a Newbie. I've been using the Boss BR1600 for a about 2 years but recently I've been transfering the tracks to my computer to mix. I've run across a Tascam US-1800 for half the cost of new and I was wondering if anyone had any advice in comparing the two units. Which one is better in the long haul?
thanks

Some like having a separate recording device. If you already have a decent computer, then just go with the 1800. It comes with Cubase LE5 that will work as your mixer. 1800 for $150? A steal. From where? Make sure it includes the software. :D

Aw I knew you'd be the first. Well just because you already stated the Tascam 1800, I'm going to go ahead and say Boss BR1600! :cursing: :laughings::laughings::laughings:

Craigslist. The software is with it. Thanks for the advice

I say pull the trigger! Or give me the link and I'll send you my 1641 for $100. :D

As long as the previous owner hasn't mucked it up, of course ....

Remember that you may have to work with your computer/settings for things like latency, which would not be an issue the way you are doing things now.

Thanks for the advice and things to watch out for. I've got the money to spend so I'm going to go ahead and if it's something that I don't feel like I have to have I'll just try to resell it.
thanks again
