Hi just tried and i cant find any screws or adapters for the reflection filter included and also the mic stand..so am going to ask absoulete music..

From mics, to pre-amps, to laptop chargers, to DAWs, to mics stands, this thread has it all!

Thats great Saads but the point of a thread is to answer it not to point out everything it contains. Anyways getting back to the point been unlucky with the Maplins Microphone stand its nowhere near compatible for this microphone. Tried adaptions and no luck. I spoke to the store and they said that microphone stands for this unit which are good quality are around £100 so I'll have to try get one of those.
The other issue am having anyway on top of this is I've watched Focusrite's Youtube tutorials but I can't even get the microphone to record on my laptop. Can anyone post full instructions for Cubase 5? Thanks

The Maplins man is having you on. There are lots of good quality mic stands out there for way under £100. Even really good K&M or Beyer stands can be had in the £40-£50 range and, unless you need to mount your stuff way out on the boom arm, much cheaper ones should be fine even with the filter.

What problem are you having mating the mic and filter to the stand? Even my cheapest stand (actually from Maplins as it happens) can take a reasonable mic if I don't get silly with extending the boom too far.

(Not advocating buying the absolute cheapest but £100? Sheesh.)

Sorry...can't help on Cubase...I don't use it.

Well basically the mic stand I have has two ends to it if you like to connect something to, One is at a angle and can be adjusted and ones straight and can't be. Now im not a DIY man or technical but neither of these two ends/threads fit the size of the extension tool for the filter I got or for the microphone. Ive looked theres nothing to adapt it for smaller threads either..so i feel stuck. I tried taping it on and it worked for the filter..but i cudnt do it for the mic. Then its down to the fact on cubase ive followed instructions and still can[t record. I think I have cool edit pro on disc bobbsy..do you know how to install it on there? if so let me know?

Hi mate i have cool edit pro 2 if that helps? Could you explain on that how I do pal? Many thanks

Great saads. Maybe instead of boosting your post count then you'll actually post something relevant to the thread topic?

What are you talking about? I did answer a few of your questions in this thread.

Master, there's no point getting snippy considering people here are more or less walking you through life at this stage.

Any old £10-£15 stand will do. There is no need to buy a £100 stand.

Most mic stands will present one of these two threads.

Your shockmount/clip should accept one of these.

Is this what you have?

I don't recommend jumping to cool edit because you can't get cubase to work.
Stick with one or you'll never get anything done.

dude ...... threads aren't monolitic "only speak when spoken to" things. people can and do make comments. It's more your job to not waste your time trying to force everyone to only say what you want them to say.

As for the mic stand issue ...... I've NEVER seen anything like that not have an adapter to m ake it work. Did you say the mic stand threads were too big for the filter? Then if that's the case the adapter is already screwed into the filter to adapt it for smaller threads. Just unscrew it.

If it's the other way around then they must have failed to include the adapter.

Well answer them now then please :) lol

Why should he reanswer them. Go back and look thru your thread.

There could be plenty fo reasons why the mic isn't recording. First you need to assess what part of the chain is not working. Is it the mic, the soundcard, or is there a DAW issue? Have you tried the mic elsewhere? If it's a condensor, are you giving it phantom power? Try putting it in another input in the soundcard. Do you have the latest drivers for the interface?

I guess he's just a little pissed. His mic and pop filter won't fit on the stand, the mic doesn't record, the DAW doesn't work, the laptop charger might be blown, and that's only some of the stuff I read
I guess I'd be a little snippy too if all that happened at once. Don't worry man, you'll be up and recording soon.

Im not snappy. But sorry yeah but its annonying when someone posts on a thread and doesnt even reply anything specific but fair dues man whatever my bad.
And well..I'm running the saffire 6 audio interface..and ive plugged it in and followed instructions on youtube but i dont know i just can get it to record in any software and i cant find any tutorials or videos? And no my mic stands different to that it has to of the same end size screws..I'll take a photo

This is all new stuff. Do you not have manuals?

"Why wont this record" is such a vague question. Plenty of people here will be willing to help, but there are so many variables that you'd be quicker just persisting with it. Read the manuals or be more specific with your questions.

For example, Plug in the mic, turn the gain up, talk loud into the mic and watch the interface to see if the clip/overload light comes on.
If it does, you've immediately ruled out the mic, the cable, and the phantom power supply as the fault.

Does your interface show up in cubase? Does the computer recognise your interface? have you installed drivers? Do your system sounds/music play through the interface?

All these details help you get an answer.

Those threads look the same as eachother and the same as the gold one in my pic.

The black collar isn't important. Screw that down out of the way.

Does your shockmount or clip have one of the gold things from my pic in it? Is so, remove it.
