Flows a lot better to me. Excellent tune!

The Cake reference was more about the monster tone you have going, especially when the guitars start to build, and the unique licks going into the chorus

Nice work Rami, your definately improving your overall vocal sound on your latest recordings, cool song.
Thanx a lot PDP.

I've been meaning to bring this up, the slower the groove the harder it is to play. Listen to how slow this songs sounds when it starts, by :30 sec you dont even realize it. Its one of those "simple" but not easy things to do.

One of my all-time favorites. Yes, it's very restrained and doesn't seem as slow as it really is.

Cool. I'm glad it flows better.

I'll have to check out more Cake. I love "The Distance", but I'll have to check out more.

Sounds really good. Tracking, mixing, very well done. Drums sound fantastic. Guitars, bass, and vocals are all very good. Typical clean and polished Rami mix that I come to expect. No let down. My only nit is the harmonies. They're executed so perfectly that they almost don't even sound real or they sound enhanced. I mean, that's a good thing from a performance standpoint, but it's almost too good. It's like you have Queen in your studio singing backups. :D The harmonies seem mega-precise to the point that it almost sounds like a synth in some spots. I'm not suggesting you change anything, it's just what I'm hearing.

Congrats on a successful change of pace. I've tried that a few times and it always ends up sounding exactly like my other crap, so I don't even bother anymore. I just write the same song over and over. :D

Next time you feel like changing it up, go the other way. I'd like to hear you kick it up a few notches as opposed to taming it down. :D

Very well done though. It's different but still sounds like you.

Thanx Greg. Nice to see you around here again. :)

Cool about the harmonies. If I did do something un-natural to them, I probably would be disappointed to read that they sound a little "hyped". But since it's really just a 3-part harmony with each part doubled (so, 6 tracks), I guess all I can say is "That's my sound!!!". :D

Good idea on the next change-up. I'll try to rock the fuck out more than I usually do.

I don't know about that. Your Phil Spector era didn't last long, but it was nothing like your other stuff and it was awesome.

Haha, that's true. Thanks. It was different. I forgot all about that song. :laughings:

I really liked it... drums are a bit small for my taste, but it seems to compliment the style and I'm not sure I'd want them huge for this song. The only thing I can say I would actually change(IMHO) is the kick... it sounds slightly too tight almost to me. Again, this could be a taste issue... I'm a bit obsessed with kick drums. I know it's not unprofessional sounding though, cause I hear lots of pro-songs where that is how the kick sounds so I know it's a popular sound.

My sister was annoyed by a background guitar that was bit out of tune... but I don't know.

By the way, my User Name on here used to be James'. I had to have it changed recently because of the URL for my profile not being able to process the apostrophe, but we've interacted before on here and you guys have left comments on my songs before.

Thanx for the opinions. I disagree about the kik, but that's all personal preference. These are real drums, no samples or replacements. So, that's how I tuned my drums to sound for this tune. It's always tempting to go for "BIG" sounds all the time, but I didn't think this tune called for it at all.

As far as your sister, well either she has awesome ears, or I just don't hear what's out opf tune. She may very well be right, I have to admit my ears aren't good enough to say with 100% certainty that nothing is even slightly out of tune.

Thanx for the comments.

I've always loved your songs, Rami, and this is no exception.

Lead Vocal seems a bit thin, but everything else is amazing. The vocal harmonies are top notch. A bit Badfinger-esque at times.

This sounds great to me, RAMI. It's cool that you have the chops required all around to pull off a change like this...writing, performing, recording, mixing...it's different from your other stuff that I've heard, but still sounds like you and still sounds very professional and well done.

Nice work, man!

Dave
Thanx a lot Dave. I love your music too, so I take all that as a big compliment.

Thanx Sea. I did high-pass the vocals. I'll go back and see if I set the high-pass frequency too high, or maybe ithey don't need a high-pass at all. Thanx for the listen and help.

A bit more reverb on everything and you've got yourself an alternative 80's hit! (Is "alternative" and "80's" in the same sentence an oxymoron? :D) Very good song. Kind of reminds me of Learn to Fly by Pinkfloyd. I hate to say this, but the verse guitars sound out of tune on the strum chords. I don't really like the pitch shifted guitars in Mr. Right Ear. Drums sound pretty good in this one. Usually your kick doesn't feel right to me, but it sits in this one nicely. Choruses are very catchy. Great vox as usual. That about does it for me. :)

A great mix is useless without a good song....and this is is a beautifully written song.
I totally dig the clean guitar sound. Is this a miced amp, Rami?
The vocal harmonies sound perfect. The mix is wonderfully balanced....I wish I knew all your mixing secrets!:o
Another great tune we can all learn from!:)

That's the las thing I want. I'll make sure to not add any reverb to anything. :D
Very good song.
Thanx a lot. :)

Man, that really bothers me. Mainly because I can't hear it. But I believe you. Someone else mentioned it earlier in the thread. Would you be able to tell me if it's the strummed guitar on the left or right...or both? I'd appreciate that, if you have the time to give it another listen, so I can re-track the track(s) that are out of tune.

Thanx a lot Squibble.

Hehe...Thanx Joey. No "mixing secrets" here. I do what everyone else does. Try to get it right in the performance, and then just mix to the best of my ability. As we've witnessed, my ears aren't really that good, because I can't even hear an out of tune guitar in my own song.

The clean guitars are a Strat going into a Peavey Studio Pro miced with a 57. I then slightly mixed in an acoustic guitar impulse.

Thanx Joey.

Both sides are out of tune during the verse strums. It's pretty good during everything else. It's that dumb A Chord. My guitar hates that one as well. It's an intonation problem, the pick's attack that temporarily bends the note out of tune, or it's just simply out of tune. Same goes for the pitch shifted guitar.

Yeah this is different from your usual stuff, but I like it. I like how bass lines have an important role in your songs, and there's no exception here. Good song, great production, sounds fantastic.

Well that sucks. I always seemed to have that problem with a "D" chord. In this case, with the "A", it might just be that the guitars were slightly out.

I wonder if there's some kind of auto-tuner that would work with chords??? If anyone knows of a way to get those tracks in tune without re-tracking, please let me know.

Thanx Squibble.

Thanx a lot saads. I guess, being a drummer, I try to play bass the way I'd like a bass player to play if I was drumming to his playing. :)

Melodyne touts it can do chords. Not sure how good it works and then add on the fact that the audio from a guitar track might have distortion; that might make it more difficult. Maybe they have a demo you can try....
