The coolest thing you ever picked up at a Garage sale?

There was this one time that I purchased a suit at a woman's club fund raiser for $5. only to find two twenty's in the inside pocket at home.
 
I don't go to garage sales but i had a belter on ebay once if it's welcome?

Happened upon a tcm5000ev that went for about £50 if i remember right.

I'd no interest in this but i noticed a few bayers selling them for £100 + and this one came with a few mics and table stands (apparently)


I bought it, and sold it on for £100, but kept the mics which ended up being four mint condition electrovoice Do54/PL9s.

SM58 - $5
49 key MIDI controller $5
MIM Fender P Bass - $60
Alesis 3630 - $5 (OK some would say I still overpaid)
1940's Slingerland drum kit for $15
Casio SK1 (smapling keyboard) $3 (very lo fi - but very fun)
Sears Tube amp (from early 60's) - $5
 
Okay, that Slingerland kit is probably as cool as my Mosrite- but I still told the coolest story! (so far...)
 
!956 Gibson Les Paul Jr. And it was a yard sale. Chipboard case and a buddy hounded me so bad for a year I finally sold it to him. I cannot by my good graces tell you how much I paid but I made about 700% on it as an investment.

I'll be damned!!! I just found an other old rogers snare in the same dump!
Not as in good of a shape ..... but still!!!!!!

Who the heck around here is throwing this stuff away?

Someone doesnt like Rogers drums.
 
My only guess is it's an elderly person who's child back in the sixties was in one of those hippy bands and now many years later they are cleaning out the garage not knowing what they are throwing away!
With only memories of that acid-psychedelic rock infesting their brain.
 
You should find out who they are if you can. Perhaps theres a whole trunkfull of Swivo-matic hardware to be had.That stuff brings the big dollar these days

I should try. It's a small community here and wouldn't be all that hard.
 
Not really a garage sale, but my friends were having a moving-out party, and were giving away a bunch of stuff. I took home a Kurzweil K2000R synth for free...at about 3am on the subway, no less!

No music stuff, but I once bought a 1982 Yamaha Virago 750 for $300.00. It took me two years to restore and customize it. I rode that machine for 10 years before selling it this year for $800.00. I sold it because I hadn't ridden it for a while as I have a 2003 V-Star 1100. Maybe one day, I'll find another Fender Twin. Sorry I sold mine a few years back.
 
How many starters did that Virago eat while you had it? Early Viragos had a horrible starter clutch design. I had a later-model one, paid quite a bit more than $300 for it, but sold it for more than I paid for it.
