Hey guys,

I posted months ago when my basement studio was first underway, now I finally have an update. I just got my floor in and besides trim and the unfinished bathroom, I'm ready to start treating the room. The space is about 19 x 15 with 7.5 foot ceilings. The ceiling is mostly acoustic tiles (made from the same rigid fiberglass as the acoustic panels but much thinner- bought at home depot) and between the joists I have stuffed a lot of pink insulation as it was there before and I figure it might help with a bit of sound absorption. I've attached one quick pic of the floor done just to give an idea of the space and ceiling.. you'll notice that there is a large closet space that I left open to the left side and that is because I plan to use it as a sort of isolation booth where I have one 1 x 12 cab mic'ed all the time where I like it and where nobody will trip over the mic and move it from it's position.

I have about 500$ to start with treatment and probably about 15 ceiling tiles I can strip the decorative layer off and stick together 4 a piece in order to create a 2 inch 2 x 4' panel. Looking at my pre schooler's layout ( all i had was paint ) can you guys suggest where I may want to start treatment? I'm thinking the north end of the room corners should be bass trapped floor to ceiling as I will essentially mix in the center of the wall in the pic attached. Drums will be in the space where I took the pic and a bit to the right just off the wall. Should i then just follow up with first reflection points? What about diffusion products , any point?

In terms of what I plan to do, I'd like to be able to track everything from drums to vocals. Bass will probably go direct. Currently deliberating between ATS and GIK panels as the shipping to Canada is always a consideration.

Thanks!

BTW sorry about the crooked pic, couldn't figure out how to rotate it on the photo up loader..

You need to rotate the pic and save before you upload.

Alan.

Roger that.. I figured after the fact it would have to be done before upload. Regardless it isn't that big of a make or break. How about some feedback peeps?
