You've made several erroneous claims in this thread about her.

I made NO erroneous claims, it's just your opinion and my opinion....all based on our subjective views. :)
Any specific facts I stated...are accurate.

You like "old" music because you know it's just better, you know it is....so we agree on that.
Of course, I like it because I actually grew up with it....rather than discovering it after it was already history!!! :D ;)

No one ever mentions having connections either. If you have a famous uncle or third cousin and your parents force them to get you in the loop you have a much greater chance at fame. Obviously it takes a lot of work and slackers don't make it. I don't like Lady Gaga much, but I bet she's put the time in several times over already. I don't think most people do what ever it takes to make it and that's why they don't make it. To be honest most people don't have what it takes to make it anyway. A little talent won't get you very far unless you relentlessly plug your shit and go where ever the journey takes you to make it. Even if you have to live in a van with your band and play anywhere you can. How many people are willing to do that? Not many, most would make up excuses why they wouldn't waste their time.

Yup...and it's not just who you know, it's who you blow. ;)

I don't think Gaga's rise was all that unusual or employed real "intense" work, at least no more intense than a hundred other bands/artists at any point in time. It was more about being a chick who stripped down to her bra and panties, puttting on sexy weird costumes and getting a lot of guys excited....and someone with connections noticed her.
You can take it from there...

For what it's worth: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lady_Gaga

I thought about the bras and panties and weird costumes...but decided against that... :D

And I agree...if you REALLY want to bust your ass, peddling you ass....you can make it, on some level, though I'm sure there are many out there who will do whatever is asked of them...and yet they never make it and end up no better than used Kleenex. This is not just in the audio world, but the movie biz too. So yeah...back to the "image" thing....

You were wrong about her history, and bowies history.

Yeah, I like old music because it is better. Older stuff just seems more "real" to me, whatever that means. It had fire and danger. It also has to rock. Old for old sake won't cut it. It has to rock. The Stooges and The MC5 were dangerous. Dangerous people, dangerous music. The Strokes are shit. No one is scared to go to a Killswitch Engage concert. See what I mean? That's where I'm coming from.

Which parts....exactly?
Don't just say I was wrong and leave it at that. :)

about her being freaky before she got famous and that it was just "manufactured". And then you said bowie was freaky all along, but he wasn't. It's no big deal, but someone's gotta keep you in check. :D

The thing with Gaga is where you want to put the line and how you want to define her freakishness at any given point.
To me...when she was doing the burly-q shit, that was just tits-n-ass in skimpy clothing...nothing "freaky" about that.
The stuff she started wearing AFTER she became pretty well known...that was in a different ballpark and level of freak.
So I didn't get that one wrong...:)...though of course, we can banter all day about when she went from "a little freaky" to more "serious freaky". ;) :D

AFA Bowie...I never said he was freaky all along....where did I say that?
I said he did the Spiders/Ziggy/Aladdin Sane boy/girl thing for a specific period from '69-'74, like a specific, intentional act...and then he moved on from that.
He also didn't start off as a freak either, rather more blues/rock stuff and some folk/acoustic/rock stuff.

Of all the "freaks"...Bowie has been the ultimate chameleon, and has changed his style and look many times. He hasn't done any real "freak" since the mid-'70s, though he has always been into interesting and somewhat unusual imagery.

Right. She'd run in terror from that guy. But can you name one of his songs? I've seen him live twice, and I couldn't name one song. Image matters.

I meant shock factor wise. But yeah, I can't name any of his songs. Heck, I don't even remember what band he was in, lol.

Okay miro.

There's also simply way too many bands now. Way too many. Way, way too many. Every dumbfuck with a cheap Squire and a Crate amp starts a shitty band now.
LMFAO....... Sad but true....

Am i the only one that would plow lady gaga?...

That GG Allen dude always kinda creeped me out. But I really like Scraping Feotus (The NAIL album was freaking awesome, I think RATM must have been influenced by that record), The Butthole Surfers, The Swans, The Meatmen and a lot of other weird crap. But GG allen man that dude was F*cked Up.

He would have done some interesting things to Gaga tho - that's for sure.

I dunno much about Gaga but to me it just seems like she found Madonnas 10-year marketing plan in a garbage can somewhere and was like - yeah this is a great idea!

Whats this thread about again?

there is some serious weirdness about gaga's hats.
i don't think the buying public is ready just yet.
