Hiya Folks,

I had been strumming my guitar and did quite a bit of singing during my schooling days and very lately i thought of getting back at it. Wanted to record my music to youtube with high quality sound rather than the voice recorded from my cam. All I have at this stage is
  1. A good PC with a decent configuration
  2. An Acoustic-electric guitar
  3. Yamaha YPT 410 Keyboard with PC connectivity
  4. My Voice..lol

Would anyone kindly advice me of What additional Equipment should i buy and what would i have to do to make this happen..thanks. :)

a mic and and interface should do ya. you can get an interface for around 100 bucks and a mic for about the same. you will also need a daw such a reaper. plug your mic into the interface and the interface into the computer probably by usb and arm the track and hit record hit stop when your done and you'll have a recording. mic wise a condenser would be good for both the vocals and the guitar.

Shop around......don't be afraid to go used......Craigslist can be your friend!

Recently, I outfitted my meager, beginners home studio with an M-Audio FasTrack II interface from CL for $35, a pair of used M-Audio AV-40 monitors for $65 from Daddy's Junky Music and an M-Audio KeyRig 49 MIDI keyboard on sale at GC.

If you're like me, you've probably got a mic or two lying around that you can use for vocals and/or instruments.

While I realize that most of the gear listed is considered entry level, that's where I'm at...entry level. But, it's gotten me started, I having fun with it and I'm learning...and I haven't spent $200 yet!

If you're planning on youtubing, you also need a video camera and software that will let you add the soundtrack (suitable mixed/edited in the DAW) to the video.

to shaunrozario,

when i first started out i used propellerhead reason as my daw. quite recently they released reason 5 and record, that allows you to record external audio instruments and vocals. i found the interface user friendly and redrum drum machine is easy to have you do basic drum beats quickly. i'm a mac user, but it worked well when i was using a pc before. you might wanna try out m audio fast track pro for your external audio interface if you're on a budget for now.
