So, I'm getting my selection narrowed down. I think I'm gonna start with Cubase cuz I have two sons who use it and will be able to tell me all kinds of valuable info. Going with Cubase will serve two purposes. 1. Ya gotta start somewhere..... and 2. It will lift up my two boys spirits to think they are helping their "old man" with some of this new fangled technology that he can't figure out ..... :D

If you are looking to save money; just have another kid, put him in school, and get the student discount Cubase for $150! LOL!

Or just adopting one would be much more Behrin-edit: don't want to start a new cheap thread......:D

or just get a friend who has a kid in college to get his kid to grab it for ya'.

Wish I'd thought of that before I bought! I even had a stepson that could have done it.
ooh, too bad. My devious wifey is the one that thought of it. She needed to buy Dreamweaver and we kinda watch out for a friends' daughter who's in school here so she bought it .... we saved a buttload.

Well its way better than stealing/using cracks. I would think that anyone learning software should be considered a 'student'. Student priced versions of Cubase are fully functional copies of the software, though you cannot get the discounted upgrade to a newer version with student copy. I don't think the Steinberg police are going to come to your door to check your enrollment in a proper school. It is kind of a paid for trial that only promotes future sales.

Dreamweaver police however.................one, two, Freddy's comin for you, three, four, lock your door......:eek::eek::eek:

nah ..... they don't care and we did nothing wrong. She's basically an almost adopted daughter ...... so it's fine.
Plus ... she bought it legitimately via a legitimate program. If they want it to be more restrictive they should make it more restrictive.

I wonder if I could get student discounts using my 1967 University of Minnesota student ID. I still have it around here somewhere. ;)

This should probably go here instead of in the Cubase forum.
I brewed 5 gallons of IPA on Saturday. Any homebrewers on these forums ??
