I know this is the "electric forum" but they are merging so I thought I'd post this here.

If you are looking for an inexpensive acoustic I highly recomend that you try out the Yamaha FG-700S. It's a dreadnaught body with a solid spruce top. I'm not a gear head really, so I don't know all of the technical details, and for that I feel a bit stupid. But the truth is this guitar really does sound and play well. When I opened it I was increadibly surprised by how handsome it was. Simple, but not cheap looking. Well finished (as far as I can tell) with good attention to detail. It costs $200 new for the natural and $250 for the sunburst. Will it hold up against a $2400 martin? I don't know. Probably not. But, I don't have much time for recording but I had some money in my music budget and I still needed/wanted a decent tool for writing and practicing. I'm increadibly happy with my decision.

I will post up some sound demos when I get a chance.

The Ymaha FG series of solid top acoustics have been some of the best no nonsense entry level acoustics since the mid 70's. There are some real excellent examples out there in the used market all the time.

What does "entry level" guitar mean? I have never understood that? Is it supposed to be a statement on features or a statement on quality (or lack thereof)? Just curious. Thanks.
