You don't really need it these days, but some talent would be good. You got any of that?

Talent's extinct bro. So is pure practice. I can't play the guitar, but I have a program that does what I tell it to do.

thanks again bro

Except it's wrong...you don't need an additional sound card; the Multimix 6 USB provides that functionality.

Also, the Multimix 6 USB has 2 mic preamps built in; you don't need any additional preamps unless you intend to record with more than two microphones at once.

I'll add preamps aren't needed to power condenser mics, they're needed for all mics, phantom power (usually 48v) is needed to power a condenser mic.

pop filter? mic stand? shockmount?

in terms of basic setup you're good tho. altho i would suggest maybe putting on a better first impression for the forum...

Some people just need to yell at the new guys I guess.

I believe that the Alesis unit ships with CUBase LE, and it may be good enough as recording software until YOU know what you need. You are probably going to need a bunch of assorted patch cables, but until you start plugging things in you won't know what you need here. Get to know your local Radio Shack - they have cable pieces, plugs, adapters, and wires on Sundays.
