That is a sweet sounding rig!

Very sweet sounding indeed! But then I've always been very impressed with the tones and recordings that Sonixx produces! Hat's off to you dude!

thanks for the kind words guys.

WhiteStrat, if you get a chance, maybe use one of your modelers and see how close you can get to my SLO.

Hi All,

I saw the title of this thread and started reading and just had to comment. Bob, I use a Line 6 Toneport with Pod Farm for most of my recording and I definitely have settled on the Line 6 Solo 100 (Soldano SLO model) amp model as my clear favorite, so much so that I actually posted on the Line 6 forum a couple of months ago just to confirm that it was indeed modeled after a Soldano SLO.

That said, Sonixx, your recordings of the real deal just blew my mind :) The only problem is that now I'm not going to be happy again until I've saved up enough money to have one of those bad boys!

Thanks for posting!

Dave, I just took a listen and your stuff is fantastic. Are those your vocals?

Hey Sonixx,

Thanks very much! Yes, I am singing and playing everything except the drums. My guitar tones need lots of work, and that's always been a problem of mine. I'm going to have to make that a priority for my next purchase I think. I have been contemplating a small recording amp, something like the Marshall Class 5. But man, that SLO sounds so good, I'm wondering if I should just be patient and save up till I can afford it. In those recordings you posted, are you able to get tones like that at a reasonable volume?

Reasonable yeah but definitely not apartment levels.

I have another amp, a Bray JTM45, that sounds awesome clean to distorted and is only about 40 watts. I think I have some tracks of it in my Sig. It'll get much heavier than what I've tracked. IMO it would be a worthy investment.

Here's a recommendation for what I think is a fabulous recording chain:

Bray JTM45 -> Scumback H75 or M75 > AEA R92

i'm currently using an slo replica. local guy at a shop called solderhaus did the job and it is broootal. he originally used 6l6's but the original owner needed more brutality so he biased it for kt88's and the thing is just ridiculous. it's a one trick pony though since it's one channel but it's reasonably versatile with some knob turning. either way the thing can't go past 2 without blowing the windows out of my house and it's only got 2 of the kt88's in it right now. i slapped two evm black label 12's in the bottom of my cab and left the v30's in the top (the v30's overpower the evm's a little since they're more efficient, but it still sounds great imo)

without talking your ear off... see if you can dig up a good replica. i got mine for 800 bucks (second hand) and it's spoiled me. i just brought it back yesterday to have the guy take a look at it and slap some tube retainers in it so i have to play on my randall bitchmaster 150 til later today. it makes me want to give up guitar til i get it back.
