LOL. Long post??? Christ, your doctors are obviously doing you a disservice, you're getting worse by the day. Do you really need to keep reminding everyone here all the time that you're dyslexic and getting worse? As if anybody here cares. You need to be talking to your doctors, not us.

And tell them that you obviously can't associate thought by yourself either. If you could, you'd know the same desires apply to control rooms, which are not anechoic either.

I agree with glen that the tracking has the "standard" of room tone/reflections/color involved but i was under the impression that we were striving to mix in a really flat environment.
The reason that larger rooms are preferred for mixing is that it tends to diminish problems with bass modality of the room itself. And yeah, granted, bass modality is not a problem in the outdoors, true enough. But there's almost kind of the opposite problem in that the outdoors tends to want to suck the bass into a black hole of distance. You ever notice when playing in a band outdoors that the bass tends to sound kind of anemic on the stage itself, but a mile away, the bass is all you can hear? I'd be worried that mixing outdoors might cause us to over-compensate for the bass in that way.

But just as problematic can be the high end. The human brain tends to want/like *some* kind of reverberation/reflection as a way of helping to localize the sound source in space. With absolutely no reflection, we're taking that advantage away.

As I said earlier, if anechoic were really what we wanted as ideal, the Big Boys would have anechoic control/mixing rooms to work in, But they don't; because anechoic is really not the most ideal condition for mixing.

Not that it couldn't be done, probably. But IME I wouldn't recommend it.

Bearing in mind a paws for thought....

What about bears ? They like rock music, don't they ? You might get a flat bass response mixing outside but you'd be unlikely to get a flat bears' response.......
