Hey everyone, I'm having trouble setting up Cubase le 4 to work. As the title suggests, it isn't detecting any inputs. I'm using an E-Mu 1616m connected to a Shure SM58.

Under "Device Setup" I've changed the VST Audios System to the E-MU ASIO, however it lists only two outputs and no inputs. Under "VST Connections" it doesn't display any input connections either.

Any ideas?

Many thanks.

Sorry to have to bump this, but I'm really desperate for answers. Been looking and can't figure it out. Any help is appreciated.

You changed a VST Audio system to ASIO? I don't understand that. VST is an effect, not a sound device.

In Cubase, you should be able to select your EMU as your recording device. There should be nothing related to VST which you are changing to your EMU device, if anything it would be your stock soundcard you are changing to the EMU.

Unless just coincidentally your computer's soundcard is from a company called VST lol.

Make sure you've updated all your drivers too.

@Tetrafish Yeah, I've tried adding buses on the input column, but whenever I try to select the audio device it only says it's not connected. There is an option to choose the E-MU ASIO for the audio device on the input bus, but it wont allow me to pick it. I'm assuming because it doesnt detect any of the inputs.

So just to be clear you did select the ASIO driver in device setup?
and do the inputs show as visible?

What was that supposed to inform me of?

"Steinberg's Virtual Studio Technology (VST) is an interface for integrating software audio synthesizer and effect plugins with audio editors and hard-disk recording systems."

Sounds like what I said

You said VST was an effect. It's not. It stands for "Virtual Studio Technology".

You can see in the screen caps I posted they call it (where you select the driver) the "VST Audio System". There are also VST plugins that have effects, there are VST instruments etc..

@Tetrafish Ok, making some head way here. I had selected the E-MU ASIO as the driver instead of the ASIO DirectX Full Duplex driver. (Pic 1)

The inputs are showing now (pic 2), also showing inputs on the input bus (pic 3), but still not picking up the mic.

Select the proper input in the track and arm it for recording?

Haha, yeah it's armed, it just deactivates when you're messing with the settings like in the screen shots.

Oh, sorry I should have said, mine just shows the direct x ASIO driver, which isn't the one you should use. It should be the one you installed for your device. The latency will be crazy if you use the direct x one.
