hi guys my name is eddie i sing karaoke online i was singing with a usb mic but i wanted to get a better sound i know it sounds crazy but i wanted to get cd quality sound so i bought a steinberg mr816x audio interface and i bought a miktek cv4 i'm waiting on the mic to come inn the mail and i dont know if i need a mic pre amp are what else i need can anyone please give me some pointers im kinda new to this i talked to a guy the other day and he said i spent way more they i should have maybe i did i dont know but i do tthis for a hobby this is what i like to do for fun can anyone please give me some input????????
ohhh and i also bought some studio monitors alesis mi active mk2

any input would be awesome what else do i need i have been looking at some mic pre amps and i see they are alot out there ............ thanks eddie

Does the interface that you purchased have a preamp in it?

Yeah, you probably could have gone a little cheaper. Most people don't go from USB to a $1200 mic.

You probably could have got what you needed for about $300, but I'm assuming you had some spare cash laying around if you bought a $1200 mic so what the hell get something good.

And yeah, that unit has pre amps so don't worry about that.

So what else do you guys think I need the mic cost 1300 I can send it back if it's too much of a over kill

Like I said, I don't know your cash situation, If your rich and have a few hundred thousand in your bank account treat yorself and keep the mic. If you put it on your visa and your living pay cheque to pay cheque send it back.

As far as what else you need I think you've got it handled. As long as you can hook up your interface to your pc.

Do you have a DAW program, I assume the steinberg interface came with Cubase LE?
