The corners of my room are 90 degrees. . . obviously. If i place something in the corner, floor to ceiling such as a piece of wood for ease of use, thus meaning it was no longer a 90 degree corner, would it affect the acoustic properties of the room in a positive way?

Yeah...because corners are where a lot of bass buildup happens.
I'd consider making some corner traps though.

You can buy some tri traps from GIK or, if yer handy, use some 703 or what I found which is Roxul Rockbaord 60, cut em into triangles and stack em up from floor to ceiling, stretch some fabric over it. do a nice frame over it and call it good.

In fact, I'll be building 4 of these for my corners when my goodz show up.

Probably not in a significant way, no. Better to putt 4" or corner filling bass traps in those corners floor to ceiling if possible.

Rigid fiberglass panels. Search these forums for tips.

Well, it would change the behavior of the sound waves, but the "positive" part is debatable. Changing the shape of the corner would only shift the energy elsewhere in the room because the board is solid, rigid, and reflective just like the walls. Even if you made your room completely round you would still have bass buildup in the form of more modes throughout the room.

What the guys here are trying to say is that bass traps would serve to decrease the energy instead of simply reflecting it.

By "bass trap" I mean a panel that's at least 4" thick made from Owens Corning 703 or 6lbs - 7lbs density mineral wool. You could also create "superchunk" bass traps that fill the corner completely.
