Honestly... who needs this much gear?!

If you could have just one of those racks, with everything in it, which would you choose?

I'm torn between the 4th from the left (preamps, it appears) and the 5th (compression).
i'd take the forth rack, then sell some preamps and buy Clavia's Nord and some compressors :D

Acoustically speaking, I hope he's got another wall just like it over on the other side. :D

I believe the original question was: who needs this much gear?

The answer is simple: I do. :D

So what would you guess, maybe $150K of gear in the pic if replaced at current street prices?

All that and the carpet is repaired with duct tape and is frayed at the edge of the 70s vintage floor, haha.

I don't know anything about him. Maybe he's an amateur and could only afford all that gear because his studio is in the basement of his parents' house.:D Naw, I know who he is.:D

Street prices LOL

What is this, Law and Order

Look out for those dangerous home recorders and the psycho world of blackmarket, underground compressor dealing. They'll kill you as soon as listen to one of your mixes in the mp3 clinic :D

Also I've read on numerous forums that it's 80% talent and 20% gear that makes a good mix so it's foolish to get too wrapped up in gear......

This guy must have a shit load of talent if that wall of gear represents the other 20%

Im 80/20 if I only count my behringer 8 track mixer as gear :)

Maybe we should just try to name something he DOESN'T have.

Art Tube MP?

It probably took him 30 minutes just to turn everything on for the pic.

There are definitely some parts of town you should avoid coz of all the dealers there trying to corrupt newbs by shoving cheap gear and questionable advice their way and getting them hooked..........it always starts off innocently>>
"Yo, troopa ? Hook you up on a low pass filter ? Behringer, you dig ?"
