Well this is going to require a few different questions concerning the same matter.

With microphone companies that offer different finishes on any one model.Ones that come in nickle, black, custom.

Which finish do you think is more sexier?, more sophisticated?, and will be more highly sot after in the future do to rareness of finish?
Just which finish demands more attention?

the one that sounds the best?
 
Camo - insist on camo. Otherwise you can get one of the cell phone bling kits and put little sticky glittery things all over.

But seriously, most mic body colors are designed to *not* attract attention, right? Also, one that doesn't reflect back light very much is more desirable for use in video production, so that you don't get unexplained glares coming in from just off camera.

The Z5600AII is more of a gray/olive color.
It's a pretty big mic with a kind of a Germanic Traditional Look.
Quite impressive looking on a stand.
Even moreso when placed in an sE Reflexion Filter!

I still like that GOLD REFERENCE MANLEY, though.

Just don't have them in the car when you get pulled over by the .gov types.

For what a lot of the mics I want cost, they should all come in gold, solid gold, 24k. Plated in copper+nickel+chrome and throw in a titanium squirrel cage.
 
Brushed nickel is and always will be lovely. Example, the UNIDIRECTIONAL Shure 300 ribbon.

While I love a satin black finish or close to it, a satin chrome finish can look classy.

that's just my newbie opinion. I'm not a big fan of the look many mics had in the 60's, 70's and 80's however.
 
Bling is for folks who don't know crap about good mics. The seriously best studio mics in the world all have a plain nickel finish, perhaps with some chrome. The most expensive mic (Ela M 251) comes in chrome, a small amount of black, and the body is hospital green.
