Looking to add i/os to digi 002

I'm puzzled by this.

(wouldn't have to buy more snakes)

The Behringer and Presonus models mentioned are Lightpipe.
One digital cable out and another one going in.

Maybe I'm missing what you're saying.
I'll go back and see if you posted what your setup is, exactly.

Okay, I've had a look.
Your unit is digital I/O, just like the ones recommended here.
Don't know why you want 1/4" outs but the Behringer does have 1/4" ins.

The gear we've been recommending to you, connects via digital (optical) cable and adds 8 more channels to your Digi 02 giving you a total of 12.
Those channels show up in your console, just like all the others.
That is the cheapest, most practical way to get more channels.
Were you thinking of adding a mixer to your set up?

I'm just guessing here, but it sounds like he wants to send the tracks out of the interface, to a mixer (to mixdown) and then back into the interface for recording. But, I could be wrong. (I've been known to be wrong two other times) :p

Yes. I have a mixer and with the digi I'm limited to the number of outputs for outboard mixing. I alreay have some 1/4' to rca snakes and I was hoping not to have to buy more. I also use my mixers preamps for tracking.

Sorry I wasn't more clear before. Does that make sense?

Exactly!

Sorry I'm new to this.

The Digi002 has 8 channels of analog input/output, but only four mic preamps. It seems that you'd get 16 channels of I/O with ADAT Lightpipe, up to 12 channels with preamps if the Lightpipe converter had 8.

That exacty what I want to do. Except I don't need any mic pres because I use an external mixer for that. I'm just looking for a cheap way to send more individual signals back to my mixer to mix. Therefore it's easiest for me to get 1/4' instead of XLR. Make sense?

Also, nobody had an feedback about the nuendo 8 I/o... Has anyone used them? It's the older one that only goes to 44.1.

I'd ditch that mixer so fast, I'd probably throw my shoulder out. :D

44.1 is all you need so you decide. $200 & $600 for new ones or $400 for used gear. Not a tough choice for me but he/she's your friend.
