Hi guys, excuse me for asking something that may already have been posted.

I have a macbook and will soon buy a Rode NT-1A mic. I'm wanting to record acoustic guitar and vocals. I understand very little about the technicalities of recording, but as far as I know, since the mic will produce a much higher quality of sound than my macbook's soundcard can take, I need to buy an interface to gain full potential of the mic. Is this right?

So, which interface is suitable for this mic and my music?

Thanks in advance
Hoon

Try a zoom H4n, look it up on the net and check it out.
It's a recorder but can be used as as interface you get a lot of different options.

the h4n is nice, the mic on it are stunning. But that didnt answer his question. There are many interfaces out there. I would suggest for your purposes the presonus firepod.

lexicon alpha, lambda, omega

the presonus firepod is also a good choice like thechickenmaster said above me.

whats your price range?

Just about any interface will be fine. Just make sure it has mike preamps and phantom power (which most do these days).

my apologies, it is very early in the morning here.
i actually considered an abbreviation like TCM to save time! should have went with that!

good advice none the less.

oh my goodness, personus costs like 300 quid! My budget is very very minimal... so here's a new question: what's the best budget interface for acoustic recording?

lexicon alpha looks reasonable in price, around 50 pounds. In all honesty I thought interfaces were things that cost about 10 quid.. shock horror

lexicon alpha is fine.

keep in mind that you can only record two tracks at once. This is probably ok if you are doing all the stuff yourself.
