Thanks and let the critiques fly.

Jeez you're giving ME static about the wide keyboard sound?? :D

Man, you and I are SO cut from the same cloth musically. You seem of more straight ahead roots than me, but I just love the textures and tone you create, especially the downtempo dark stuff like this. You're MILES ahead of me on the chordal instruments. We really need to collaborate at some point. If nothing else, I have real drums, and ready access to a horn section that can record remotely for you. (Not sure what they charge, I worked barter with them, I do their session recording for them, they do horn parts for me.)

Anyway, This is wonderful. I might have the drum overhead stuff nestled in a little deeper in the mix, but I can't really gripe about anything. Do you have any CDs out? If not, when? If $$$ is the only issue, I have an amazing solution for you.

The drums sound great, the guitar tone and playing are perfect. Love the keyboards, especially the quick panning in the beginning. The bass is deep and growly. The timing is spot on. The mix is very clear and balanced. Don't change anything, this sounds professional.

Lovely stuff. Smokie, downstairs, after midnight etc.
BUT the panning was very distracting after a while - I was listening for it instead of listening to the whole.
I love the LOW notes.

I agree. The wide pans on the drums sound OK generally, but a few hits really stand out (the ride for example). The keys were a lot harder to ignore.

Otherwise, it sounds very polished. You're getting good tones out of the instruments, and all the voices have a place in the mix.

Dude, the key tracks are just too narrow. Can you spread them farther in the mix?

ROFL. Ok, ok. Yeah, the stereo tremolo Rhodes is a bit much. :o:D:D
I think I'll re-track that keyboard track with a more traditional Rhodes sound with maybe a stereo phased (narrow!) effect.

Thanks for the critiques....I need to fall outta love with the pan knob.:)

I worked on the cymbal velocity settings quite a bit to get them to calm down...but I did set them on top of the mix so I could get a good idea of how they sound in context. As I listened to it, I kinda started liking them out there so I left em. I might pull them back in a bit now.

Teysha, this is very, very nice.

Personally I like the stereo trem Rhodes. Reminds me of Jeff Beck's Blow By Blow and similarly recorded music. It's not distracting to me - in fact, by 30 seconds in I don't even notice it any more.

The cymbals sound perfect. That china crash is always going to be a little brittle sounding but that's how they are. The rides and other crashes sound perfect to my ears.

I've already told you my opinion of brass. :p I see you've ignored it. :D

My pleasure, sir. :)

Better a horn player than a drumber! :D

Don't retrack the keyboard; just run it through a stereo expander, only in reverse, to narrow the field. Works great. (Audition's expander can basically turn a trak mono if you want.) If you don't have an expander, just take the track, copy it to the clipboard, an paste it back in as a mono track...

I think the trem rhodes is great in the intro - it just distracts after that.

Lovely guitar work and a cool tune, Teysha. I personally didn't find anything distracting with the Rhodes sound. Drums sound a bit too mechanical to me, but otherwise it's great.;)

i like this. sounds really good blue. its like a chilled down version of the Beastie Boys instrumental loungey kinda stuff. Guitar and synths sound good together.

lovely jubbly.....im so relaxed i just slithered of me seat onto the floor and Im now typing this up side down daddio...what a different way the world looks from down here..
it kinda make the room bigger..like Im less significant...maybe we are all insignificant..is there a god? I mean i think the purpose of us existing is our very existence...kinda a circle..
like that celtic tattoo with the dog eating the dog eating the dog on and on..maybe I should get another tattoo..the wife would prolly kill me..she never liked the no entry sign I got on my arse..sense of humour breakdown..she's a lovely woman apart from that..especially since I stopped smoking..
man stopping smoking was easy..never really felt nervy through it just kinda stopped..

oops the tracks finished

I feel really mellow...maybe Ill put it back on before I kill the neighbours cat...mmmm

Nice one Teysha!

Good strong bass intro..

I like the panning..it surrounds your brain with smooth, but funky sounds.

Horns are interweaved, giving it punctuation where needed.

Cool jazzy guitar tone..trilling keys are great!

Nice fade out..
