Hey y'all,

I was just wondering if anyone has had first-hand experience with both a nice two-head deck and a nice three-head deck. Is the recording quality very noticeable? Slightly noticeable? What kind of difference are we talking about here?

Like, for instance, will a Tascam 122 sound leaps and bounds better than the 112 (assuming they're both in great condition)?

Thanks!

Tascam 112 -vs- Tascam 122

Love my Tascam 122 Mk2..... but doubt the recording/playback quality is noticably different than a 112. Both are low-speed-only decks. However, most 112's only have unbalanced input/output. (I think balanced was an option.) So, choice may depend on the features you need.

cassette decks, huh?

Yep! :)

I wanted to keep my all cassette line going. I record some projects on my Tascam 414, and I scored a Walkman on Craigslist a while back. Now I just need to be able to mixdown to cassette! :)

Hmmm .. low-speed only. For some reason, I didn't even think about tape speed on a mixdown deck. I don't know why, as I always record at 2x speed on my 414.

Does Tascam make a mixdown deck that's hi-speed?

I don't believe Tascam ever made a 'regular' cassette deck with 3-3/4 speed;
there were a couple of consumer machines with that speed from other manufacturers, but they would be EBay finds now.
