Hey all!
Here's my new one, just a first mix, so definitely not final. Hope you can tell me what needs fixing. Got a feeling I've compressed it a bit too much. Had fun using my new SG...:D

UPDATED MIX 10/10/09: http://www.box.net/shared/0dpufmo0ee

And here the lyrics if you're interested:

Other side of the medal

I’m looking for wisdom
Borne in a wave of misunderstanding
One voice one name
That tells the story
Engraved in stone
Do I ask too much
Do you even care

What is wrong with the life I lead
What is wrong in what I believe
What is wrong is you can’t see
The other side of the medal

Cold steel rain never ending
Eyes open wide but seeing nothing
And when you hide
Behind the blindfold
You can’t erase
All the deeds you done
All the sins you share

What is wrong…..

Sway in the wind
Get away
Change the colour but
Not the paint
Dry as a bone
Try to fade
Standing in line
Till you waste
Broken and tired
Broken inside
Wither and die
Fade into night

Joey :)

Joey,
Interesting, thought provoking story.
Great bass drum.
Terrific riff - how many guitar tracks do you have altogether?
A bit more Eddie Vder vocally this time.
Those who live by a two edged sword get cut no matter which way they turn lauded & condemned, often just ignored.
Your solos are cool & I love the sustained notes used in the backing.
Makes me want to pull out the big muff & wail!
Interestingly enough the bass isn't very clear on this track - either it folows the guitar line too closely or needs defining.
Terrific track & a good mix so far.

The recording, sounds, and playing are really really strong. I'm thinking don't f**k with it! But I'm not a drum Nazi...so there's stuff I'm missing...but it sounds good to me, a lot.

Thanx Ray!
Yeah I wrote this last week after a bad day at work where every straight-assed asshole in the office made me angry....so I went home and wrote a song....reaping the postive out of the negative.
I used to have a Big Muff about 30 years ago......loved it, don't remember what happened to it. Yeah get it out and plug in and punish the neighbours!:D
I guess the bass thing has to do with frequencies. I'll have to work on it a bit more. Thanx for all the help! :)

Yeah, I've got a feeling I'm compressing the kit too much and not letting it breathe, Jeff. So that's one more thing I gotta take care of. Thanx for the comments!
:):)

OOps, almost forgot....it's 2 tracks with the Tony Iommi SG and one each wit my 2 Les Pauls. 2 Tracks are miced, 2 are direct, and I've added 2 more with Guitar Rig. So 6 rythm tracks in all. Clean sounds with the LPs, licks with the LP Studio and main solo with the SG...phew....!

joey this rocks...your vocals are the the bastard son of Eddie Vder & Chris Cornell...loved the guitars..6 tracks? I really need to learn this stuff

I wouldn't change anything according to my ears..I was doing somthing else and this played twice...forgot I was listening to an mp3 from here

another "scratch head why aren't you signed" moment

Joey, If rocks all the way. Drums are a little quiet. I love it. Looking forward to the next CD to come out.

Thanx KC! Big Chris Cornell fan here...;)
Unsigned? Maybe 'cos 50 is a bit too old for a record company.....:D
I do this primarily because my soul needs it, but it's nice when people like it.;)
Love your tartan humour, keep it coming!:D

Hey Ed, glad you like it!
Yeah I'm gonna have to ease up on the compression 'cos the drums just ain't cutting it. I'm halfway thru to the next CD with this one. ;)

Nice Joey! I listened through laptop speakers (all I had at the time) and the mix sounded pretty balanced - I just listened through my monitors, and it sounds killer!

Thanx Chef, glad you like it!
Gotta fix those drums though....;)

Great recording Joey and cool song! Your brand of metal defiantly draws from the 90's era, but I do detect a dash of Maiden, especially in the chorus. Really rocks!
