Waveform start points for proper timing ?

I hope not. It's a stupid idea, and all the "philosophizing" in the world isn't going to change that. It's a waste of time that can be spent actually learning to play tight enough to not have to even think about doing it.
 
I agree that the more recording moves towards Beat Detective and autotune the less personal and interesting the music becomes. Touchup work - fine. More than that and it sucks the life out.

If a track needs more than an occasional rhythmic edit, retrack.
