If money were no object, I'd buy this

Man, I was so enthralled by that C37 that I did not indeed notice. I guess the levels then were set by using the old ears rather than eyes, no?

One other thought... perhaps the folks at Studer preferred to avoid the distortion caused by hanging a meter across the output? They probably figured that the console would have metering of tracks going in during record, or you could hang a meter on there during tracking and then leave it off for playback to minimize distortion.

Yeah, I reckon, though I tend to agree about being pretty happy with my gear. I do miss having an 8 track and may do something on that score. OTOH, it's even possible I will just track on the Teac for a while. Certainly, other than that, I'm in pretty good shape. :)

It appears that I will be tracking on the Teac for a while, but there may be a new machine here in a few months: a friend has offered to donate an older MCI 1" 8-track, just to get stuff he no longer uses out of his house. I just have to give him time to copy off some old recordings and then come pick it up. Cool! :)

That's sick.

Hope you buy him a 6-pack or something.

Gee, if you think that's sick, I guess I'm glad I didn't mention he's throwing in several calibration tapes, 20 reels of 1" tape, an old MIDI TimePiece and a synchronizer for the MCI. :)

Cheers,

Otto
