Im using the BR-1200 amd trying to figure how to get rid of the computer in my set up. what i do is record my singer, on a mic into a preamp into the boss. then i have to extract each track to the computer to be edited. i was thinking about buying the dvd to learn how to do things, but are the effects on the boss good enough that it will be worth the time spent transfering to computer.

i want to be able to compress, reverb, or pan certain parts. also for things like a chorus, record it once and then copy it to different parts of the tracks. is this possible, or should i stick to the computer.

wish i could, but i got it for free cause i traded a friend for a old "item" that i didn't want

I don't wanna get rid of computers! Without them I wouldn't have a job... or a fat ass for that matter.

It looks like the drives tend to crash pretty regularly from reviews I've read-sounds like your gonna need a computer for backing up if you want to save the good tracks......

damn i was afraid that i'd have to get rid of the boss. well til i make enough cash i guess i gotta record on the boss and then edit on the computer. thx 4 the help

I agree with ez-willis's comments about learning how to take full advantage of your setup. BR's are intended to be a one box solution and so don't need a computer if you don't want to. Maybe it's a lot more capable than you might have found so far. Here's a link to the BR forum that covers 1200's & 1600's with a lot of years of experience in there.

Everything you've said you want to do can be done with it to some reasonable level of satisfaction without using a computer. It's all in the manual. If you don't have the manual, here's a link to it to download.

They are not visual in their editing and that makes them more difficult than computer based solutions but hey, free is free.
