Taking the slow road
I have a sampling workstation, sp-505 and i can sample my live kit, edit waves, make individual samples, patterns, and songs and mix it in and replace live drums where i need to on my all in one daw box.

(I'm switching from live drums to edited live drums in the form of samples throughout the track since I need to edit and can't play it all perfectly and also I need to easily re-arrange for the changing arrangement according to changes on other tracks)

But now I need to do that with software. I want to edit the drum track in Reaper by using some of my live drum track and then mixing in a sampled drum track.

So using software now I need to do the same as before, record kit samples, edit them, create patterns and mix or crossfade them in with the drum track.

is there any open source or low cost software to sequence, and does the track end up as audio that if i have to edit it, i need to render it again from the sequencing app, or does it turn into a midi track that i can edit directly from Reaper?

true, good to see ya here, was wondering if that was really you. I looked in the cave for the story but didn't find it.

jamfest6 was some good jammin c u in da cave

what I really need to do is create arrangements using the samples and try them out to see how they fit bc i'm not using just a straight beat and fills, i'm trying to arrange the drums to fit perfectly within the arrangement and i want to use this track in the final mix.

someone's gotta be doing this already

I looked in the cave for the story but didn't find it.

basically, they realized that banning me was a horrible decision and was detrimental to the overall quality of the board, so they asked if I would be willing to come back to try to fix it for them. Pretty much.

i just downloaded the fruity loops demo - i don't know wft i'm doing, can it interface w Reaper??? it can play any sample, so that's one piece of the requirements puzzle

...and those a55holes @ FL forums don't let you in unless you purchased from them, what are they stupid? how about potential customers who have a question regarding their application of their products? wacked

To slice a drumloop, you can use ReCycle, and then shove that .rx2 file into a sampler.

Or, you can do it directly in the sampler if it supports such shananigans. Native Instruments Kontakt does this with ease. So do many other soft samplers nowdays.

so far i got the demo of Fruity Loops to be a track in Reaper, pretty cool. I was able to make some patterns with the stock real drum sounds but the fader in Reaper didn't control level of FL, weird.

I'll need to put my own sampled drums into FL and get that fader thing working. It's 2am i been working on this all day, FL is weird, no repeat sections of patterns, you have to merge them and manually place them and the entire song of patterns has to be linear.

But I might be able to circumvent the fader issue by using clips of live drums in FL rather than fade them in & out in Reaper.

I looked up ReCycle, I'll check it again. I can slice in my hardware sampler but I'm trying to move away from it tho, thanks.
