When you bounce a track to disk, does it have to playback live everytime? or is there a way to bounce or mixdown without live playback. PT LE

With protools it has to I just woke up so I can't think of the name of the processing. But with other software it doesn't but by it playing back it has "less chance of adding artifacts" such as clicks and pops when you know that it is not in the music.

if you need a quick export of a mono or stereo file from a single track...you can use the export region as file. However it doesn't render effects to it. In order to render RTAS plugs you need to bounce in real time.

You can also record the mix inside protools on a new track (routing all out to a bus).

This is useful for a bunch of reasons but the main one (for me) is that you can make a change on a section and then rerecord only that section (using quick punch and starting some bars ahead so delays, reverbs, etc of prevoius bars will be "active" in the section you need to reprint); with a small cross fade and consolidation you save a lot of time expecially when you mix movies.

When the mix is finished I suggest to rerecord the whole performance.

he would still have to playback the song to record it to a bussed track.....
But I get what you're saying, I've made some "electronic" drum loops like that.

I made some click tracks for a drummer, several at different tempos, about 10 mins long.....UFCKING ridiculous....i would just get one going and go play sexbox for a while

Yes, of course you have to play the whole program but after the first record pass you can make changes in some sections and rerecord only them.

Imagine you need to change the volume of an effect in 3 scenes of a 50min movie. Using record to track you can modify the previous version rerecording only those scenes.
