I bought a used Presonus Firepod and its synced up to my mac perfect now. I have been recording in reaper and through Guitar Rig and I have noticed many loud pops when monitoring and even worse when playing back. Is this a problem with my computer or with the Firepod? My mac has 1.75 GB of ram but it only has a single core processor which I believe is 450 MHz. Also I am recording to my computers hard drive. I have heard to record to an external HD. Can anyone help me get this up and running like it should?

I've got an FP10 and had similar problems with a windows based setup. I turned the caching off in Sonar Cakewalk HS4XL and it seems to have cleared it up. Not sure if this is an option for you but it worked for me.

Also make sure that in the Presonus control window, your frequency and bit rate matches the settings of your program configs.

Thanks for the help, but the Presonus control window for mac only has a sync option that you can switch between internal and s/pdif. It doesnt allow you to select frequency or bit rate. When opening guitar rig however, it allows you to select buffer size and everything at start up. I set it to 27 ms from the original 11 ms for using guitar rig and it runs a little better but there are still pops and clicks on many occasions.

My buddy has a copy of Logic Studio that I might try to get running on my system. It might have better ways to set your latency than reaper.

When it all comes down to it, im seriously questioning if maybe I got a computer that is too slow to handle low latency recording. If that is the case then I will be selling my Tama Rockstar set and saving for a iMac G5. Would a G5 work a hell of a lot better?
