...I think I'm the only one in here. :o

Anyway, I started this project last summer just as a fun exercise to work on mix/sound continuity from song to song as practice for my debut album, and then it grew into a full-on thing that I just had to finish. ;)

It's no secret that I'm a mega Ramones fan, so I ended up covering their entire third album - Rocket To Russia - from start to finish. It's pretty much universally agreed that this was their best album, so what better choice was there to cover? Anyway, I tried to re-create every little ooh, ahh, handclap, tambourine hit, and nuance of the Ramones sound. Yes I'm mental, but fuck it, it was fun and a lot of work. I didn't try to sing like Joey as that's just too hard, so I just used my usual craptastic voice. I'm pretty sure everything else is very true to the original though. Why bother when the original is better, you may ask? I agree. It's dumb. It's just for fun. :D

I bought It's Alive when it was 1st released - used to play a cassette recording I made of it LOUD down at the local pub - dbl vinyl & SUPERB. Saw them in the 70's, 80's and 90's! Even saw them at a pub - up close & noise shreddingly personal. I think I caught all lineup changes too!
I only have a cassette of their covers album but have most of the LPs, CDs & DVDs otherwise.

Fav album? Too hard to pick but I do have a soft spot for the unpopular EOTCentury
Fav Song? Considering my day job it'd have to be Beat On The Brat
Fav Ramones moment? Joey writing KKK about Johnny.

I'm not a Ramones fan, but I want to share in your excitement for completing something like this. There's nothing better than doing something simply because you felt like it. I'm sure it's top notch, but I'll never be able to compare it to the original like a Ramones connaisseur would. :cool:

Got the Download coming in, but...

I don't have an unzip program on this 'puter. I'll probably have to port over to my other 'puter on the network to unzip and listen. 70Mb in zip format is a lot!

Dude, without listening I can only imagine how awesome this must sound. I already know how recording an entire Ramones "album" can be fun and rewarding. Been there & done that. I think from the 30+ Ramones covers I've done, I could probably assemble at least 1 proper "album". Actually thinking about it, there may be some "holes" in the album songlists that I've never covered. I've been meaning to do more lately, so we'll see.

I know by premonition that your Ramones cover album is awesome.:eek:;)

Dave, I thought about you a few times while doing this (not in a sexual way :p) cuz I know you have done a bajillion Ramones songs. I tried to keep this really true except for the main vocals. Please take the time to unzip it and listen as I think you'll like it. :D

I thought "can't solve the captcha" was a line from a song. It's stuck in my head, but I can't place it. (Not a Ramones song, tho, something else).:eek:;)

I plan to download soon when the family retires and the pc is solely mine. I hope the process is not too technologically challenging as I am technologically challenged!

My older sister had one of their albums growing up...the one with Blitzkrieg Bop on it. I always liked that tune. This will be an education for me. Maybe this is that same album...but I don't think so.

No, not the same album. "Blitzkrieg Bop" was the first song off their first album. Great song and album. The production is kinda cool on that album. It's very raw and minimal with the guitar one one side and the bass on the other. You don't really notice in the car or whatever, but through headphones, it's a trip. I had so much fun doing this, I'll probably do another entire Ramones album. Maybe I'll do that first album next. :D

The DL process is simple. It's gonna give you a jumbled password thing, and you just have to type it in the box. Then, since this is free, it's gonna make you wait 45 seconds. You can go take a piss or something during that time. Once the 45 seconds have passed, you can click "regular download" and save it wherever you want. Then just unzip, and rock out! :D
