I did a quick "Myspace Mastering Job" on these (mild EQ and way over-done limiter), but will probably (hopefully) end up with a much less destructive, more musical/dynamic mastering job in the end.

Either way, let me know how they sound through myspace's shoddy player! I'll post some better versions later.

We are all pretty lazy.....

The shreddability and drum assaults are as impressive as the opening piano parts. (Illumination) Good mix, I like the vocals exactly where they are... The bass is deceptively subtle... I can tell you've put A LOT of work into this and it shows on the finished product...Good stuff Steve!

Thanks man :) We/I really did put all of myself into this project from start to finish, and it's really cool to finally be able to just sit back and listen to it. I haven't been this relaxed and happy in a long time!

I am not keen on the Cookie Monster vocals, but the musicianship is topnotch, and I didn't find anything out of place. Good job on the arrangement.

My only nit is the piano intro could be shortened just a bit...

EDIT: the cymbols were a bit hushed. Perhaps brighten them a bit...

I agree on the cymbals: hopefully a proper mastering job might brighten the mix in general a bit.

As for the piano intro, it works within the context of the CD :) It provides a much-needed breather in the middle, and represents a transition between super-heavy/minor stuff, to prettier melodic stuff (like the "Cover of Smoke" song we posted). Could be shortened for a single/radio edit if for some reason this music becomes mainstream popular though! Hah

dude, you guys are excellent. i was just listening to your page a couple days ago (posted a comment too). really cool stuff, right up my alley. be sure to let us all know when the disc is done. i will be ordering one. ever heard of the band "the ocean"? if not, you should check them out--i think you'd really dig them.

Some cool shit Steve! A bit hardcore for my taste, but I admire the mixing of such large walls of sound and the diversity of technique on the songs. Man, Cover of smoke is slightly epic!
Each song is a journy for sure. Some nice mix techniques employed;)

Well done:D

Fuck that's heavy. I, too, am not a fan of the vocal style, but I realize it's good for the style of music. Band's tight as hell, and this is well arranged and played.

I'm going to have to say, this is one on my favorites on the site now.

*Adds to friends*

The vocals are totally brutal, and the guitar is pretty awesome. Three thumbs up from me.. :D
Keep rockin it out.

Thanks a lot guys :) It definitely wouldn't have turned out nearly as well without your guys' help. Every problem I had while learning to record over the past two years, someone here had an answer or at least offered some good advice and/or direction.

I'm proud to say that I set up every mic, tracked almost every part, and mixed a good portion of it myself. It's fun to produce your own record, although I never could have imagined how long it would take or how stressful it would be!

I'll let you guys know when it's actually mastered (vs. crushed to hell!)
