I've been heavily considering saving for a Digi 003R, because it seems to be of very high quality as far as interfaces go and I don't want to save for a FF800. Aso I could make good use of all the software that comes with it, like Reason etc. And I planned on doing the BLA Mod eventually.
But then I got to thinking whether or not it was really worth saving for rather than getting a FireStudio Project...The DAW I use isn't going to make or break my decision. What is, is the quality of the converters and partially the quality of the preamps. I will most likely only use the onboard preamps for drums, or part of the drumset.
So my question is, how do the converters compare? I would like to be able to hear the end result and know that (if there is something if low quality) it isn't the hardware bringing it down.
So, say I have the room, the mics, the instruments, the amps, the preamps, and the players to achieve a CD quality recording...Will the converters be up to par with everything else to cut a real deal record?
