Why are guitar cables so stinking expensive?

I get Velcro ties at Home Depot at a couple of bucks for about a dozen of them. Pretty colors, too. ;^)

Fair enough. I went to the Cable Clamps because I got some as a gift in my stocking one year and really liked them, and I was also having problems with the Velcro and my Spectraflex cables.

Gracious, that's expensive.

This is how I learned to do Velcro for cables. You cut a length of double sided Velcro (hook on one side, loop on the other). Then knock a couple holes in them, and use a rivet to permanently attach one end to the cable (that end goes towards the snake for mic cable, or the amp for guitars, so you don't have Velcro sticking to you or your mic while your playing). Cost pennies per cable, and works great. It's also nice for load out, because you just tell everyone to grab all cables from the Velcro end, and you never end up with two people on one cable (which is really annoying when you are dealing with a big old rats nest).
