...I like the way the two parts intertwine and play off of each other...
noise... I think it's you shifting in your chair...
Thanks for the listen. Yep, a damed creaky spring-backed office chair as I was experimenting and didn't expect to keep the track.

I got me one 'o dem too.

Lately I've been taking to sitting on the side of a bed mattress ... it's comfortably cushy and doesn't make squeaky noise -- well, when I record, I mean.

Very beautiful, Tim.

How do you improv the second guitar? Do you just 'jam' (so to speak) with the first improv-ed guitar until you can figure out (e.g. write) a bit that works, or do you just wing it, or what?

Very nice guitar work, Tim. I'm hearing Asia in this one. Were you thinking Amazon? Maybe South America, but I think more Asia.

Great capture on the recording. Two condenser mics? one at the bell and the other at 10? Carpet on the floor or were to playing to clothes hanging in your wife's closet?

Just kidding. I know nothing. I use to be Sgt. Shultz:)

Looks like I'll be the first to add a suggestion, since I assume that's why you posted the song. To me, for the style of song, the guitars felt too close. It was most noticeable when plucking high percussive strings and some of the room ambiance crept through.

I wouldn't drench in in reverb, but if it were myself and I could come up with a song like this, I would give it a little more space. Just a little.

Beds and couches don't work too well for me with the way I sit with the guitar. I've got several good squeak-free chairs in the studio. I just didn't get my butt up out of my computer chair and use one that time.

Since most of what I usually play involves scores, this type of improvising I do totally opposite as a break. So no planning, just one improvised take on each part done back to back to keep it as free of conscious thought as possible. But then I edit. This one was twice as long as the final version before I edited out phrases I didn't like.

It was in New England actually.

Before I said 2 ft away from the guitar, but I think they were more like 18 inches. Two hypercardioid condensers. They were down low about a ft below the soundhole, mic's were about 7 in apart pointed outwards.

No, I believe you're the third person. And it's appreciated.:)

I hear you... But think of it like you're sitting IN the canoe, not viewing the canoe from a ways away.:D It's definitely an ear-stuck-right-on-the-guitar sound. Generally I have the mic's twice the distance of this, or more, but for this one I was going for a very close-up feel, similar to the way things look when you're canoeing right alongside the shoreline with branches passing overhead and everything's real quiet and close.

I experimented with that and couldn't get anything that didn't sound artificial. I think I'm stuck with the close-up sound at this point.:)

...Is that a picture of where you were canoing?...

OK, last bump for this thread. I found a couple pics of the river (the pic in the first post is my canoe but in a different place) so wanted to post them.

In summer and fall...
