for about 60 or so. do i have fun and relive my yout?

Go for the MR-8 or MR16 and have even more fun!

Seriously, I have been through the experiences of four track tape, DAT, Mini Disk and finished, finally, with the MD8, I now have a MR-16 HD/CD.

The greatly increased flexibility both recording and for editing plus the greater compatability with current file formats (.wav and mp3) make digital a worthwhile move.

My current choice, based on a trawl of the User Manuals, downloaded as .pfd files, Showed the Tascam as being limited on inputs (2) and the Zoom to be too sophisticated for my simple mind, so the MR-16 with 4 inputs, 16 tracks, logical architecture and (limited) effects, the best choice for me. It came closer to the old style of tape recording than the Zoom and I had the added facility to produce CDs without recourse to a computer.

I say go for it. I had one. The X-12 was my first. Single input, only 4 tracks, can't bounce. It makes you get really creative if you want to do more than a drum machine, bass, guitar and a vocal...;)

On the other hand, don't you have an attic full of multitrackers?
Or am I thinking of someone else? We haven't talked in ages....

i love low tech. but i need to bounce.

i think i'll save the remaining space in my closet studio for my feet
